Camping in Laigueglia 2013

( Sunrise in Laigueglia, Liguria )

The day after my birthday, I decided to head off on a laid-back trip with my friend Daniela. We went to the beach in Laigueglia, Liguria, and decided to camp to save some money. The week wasn’t exactly about relaxation – it was more of a carefree, hippy-style adventure. We spent our days by the sea, smoked a bit of marijuana, drank, and partied, just enjoying the vibe of the moment. It was the kind of freedom I loved at that age, with no rush and no plans, just soaking in the experience.

After that week of fun and carefree living, I had a few days before heading off on another trip, this time with my boyfriend. It was the perfect mix of celebrating my birthday, having an adventure, and embracing the freedom of youth.

DAY 1 – Saturday 13.07.2013
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

My friend Daniela, her boyfriend (who was with us just for the weekend), and I took the train from Alessandria to Laigueglia, excited to start our camping adventure. Once we arrived, we set up our tent at the campsite and headed to the beach. Although the weather wasn’t perfect, we still made the most of it and enjoyed our time by the sea. After a few hours of beach time, we freshened up and, in the evening, went out for dinner with a few of Daniela’s boyfriend’s friends. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a relaxed evening.

DAY 2 – Sunday 14.07.2013
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

We spent the day enjoying the beach, soaking in the sun and the sea breeze. After a relaxing afternoon, Daniela’s boyfriend left to return to work, and it was just the two of us continuing our camping adventure. The vibe was laid-back and carefree, just as we wanted it to be.

DAY 3 – Monday 15.07.2013
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

We spent the day on the beach, even though the weather wasn’t great for July – it was cloudy and far from the typical summer sun. Despite the overcast skies, we still made the most of our time by the sea. Later, in the evening, we went to La Suerte Club for a night of clubbing, where we met a group of random guys. The atmosphere was lively, and we danced the night away, making the best of the cloudy weather and creating unforgettable memories.

DAY 4 – Tuesday 16.07.2013
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

The morning after the night out, we were all feeling the effects of the hangover. But by the evening, we decided to take it easy. We spent the day by the beach, soaking in the atmosphere, and later, we relaxed and socialized at the campsite. It was a much-needed change of pace after the wild night, and we enjoyed the laid-back vibe of our surroundings.

DAY 5 – Wednesday 17.07.13
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

We decided to visit Pietra Ligure, a place Daniela used to go with her mother. On our way there, we had an unexpected hiccup – we got fined on the bus because we didn’t have a ticket. Thankfully, we sorted everything out by paying the 30-euro fine at the post office on Saturday morning. After that, we headed back to the campsite to relax for the evening. Later, we went out clubbing at La Suerte again, dancing and enjoying the night until we finally went to sleep very late. Another unforgettable night of fun and spontaneity

DAY 6 – Thursday 18.07.13
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

The next morning, we were all feeling the hangover from the night before, but we still managed to socialize with the people around the campsite, enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. We stayed in that night, chatting, relaxing, and probably smoking a bit of marijuana. It was another late night filled with fun and spontaneity, making the most of our time at the campsite.

DAY 7 – Friday 19.07.13
( Night at: Camping Capo Mele, Laigueglia )

The morning after, we dragged ourselves to the beach, still nursing our hangovers, but we ended up hanging out with some of the new friends we’d made at the campsite. Despite feeling rough, we made the most of the day. Later, we spent the night out on the beach with those guys, staying up until the sunrise. It was a wild, carefree night that stretched into the early hours of the morning.

DAY 8 – Saturday 20.07.23

We spent the early morning watching the sunrise on the beach with Daniela and the guys we had met during the previous days, who were still staying at the campsite with us. After a long, wild night, we went to the post office to pay the fine. Later, Daniela’s boyfriend arrived, and we either packed up the tent that evening or the next morning. We then took the train back to Alessandria, reflecting on the unforgettable experience.

17 days in South Italy 2013

( Torre Astura, Latina )

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend suggested we take a little escape to a house his relatives have near Latina. We packed our bags and spent 17 dreamy days just the two of us, soaking up the Italian summer and exploring some incredible places.

Most days were blissfully slow—just us, the sunshine, and the sea. We spent hours lounging on the beach, swimming, and enjoying the peaceful rhythm of coastal life. But we also made time to explore beyond the shore.

We took day trips to Rome and Naples, diving into the history, art, and irresistible food each city offers. Wandering the streets of Rome felt like stepping into a storybook, while Naples brought a raw, vibrant energy—and yes, the pizza absolutely lived up to the hype.

Closer to our home base, we explored the charming towns and countryside around Latina. Every little corner held something new to discover, from quaint cafés to scenic trails and local markets.

It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—a getaway that gave us time to connect, recharge, and make some unforgettable memories.

  • the house was near Borgo Sabotino

DAY 1 – Wednesday 24.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( Sunset on the beach, Lazio )

My boyfriend suggested a little getaway to a house his relatives have near Latina. It sounded like the perfect chance to relax and explore together, so we packed our bags and set off. We left in the morning and arrived around 5 PM with a little stop at the Pisa tower which I’ve never seen before, just in time to catch a bit of the golden hour at the beach. It was the perfect welcome—warm sand, salty air, and the soft crash of waves. After a long day of traveling, we went back home and crashed early, excited for the days ahead.

DAY 2 – Thursday 25.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

We spent the whole day at the beach nearby—nothing more, nothing less. Just laid out under the sun, went for swims when it got too hot, and took it easy. No plans, no schedule, just full-on relax mode. After the sun went down, we headed back home, showered off all the sand and salt, and chilled for the evening. We had some drinks, talked, laughed… one of those super simple nights that feel really good without needing anything special.

DAY 3 – Friday 26.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

Spent the day at the beach again—by now it was starting to feel like our second home. Same easy rhythm: sun, sea, and doing absolutely nothing productive, which was exactly the point. In the evening, we decided to switch it up and headed to Nettuno to check out the city. Walked around a bit, took in the atmosphere, and just wandered with no real plan. It was a nice change of pace after all the lazy beach hours.

DAY 4 – Saturday 27.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( the garden of the family house of my boyfriend, Latina )

Another full day spent at the beach—by now we had our routine down. Towels, sunscreen, swims, naps, repeat. No stress, no rush. In the evening, we stayed in and had fritto misto for dinner. Simple but so good. Just sitting at the table, still feeling the warmth from the day, eating crispy seafood and enjoying the quiet.

DAY 5 – Sunday 28.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

We took it slow and hit the beach in the afternoon this time. Spent a few hours just hanging out, swimming, and soaking in those late-day vibes. We stayed until sunset—it was one of those golden, quiet ones where the sky turns soft and everything feels a little more peaceful. After that, we headed home, tired in the best way.

DAY 6 – Monday 29.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( Plebiscito square, Napoli )

We planned a day trip to Naples, so in the morning we drove to the Latina train station and took the train from there—way easier than dealing with traffic and parking in the city. Once we got to Naples, we spent the day exploring. First stop was the Duomo, then we checked out the Archaeological National Museum, which had some incredible stuff. After that, we walked through the Galleria Umberto I and spent some time in Piazza del Plebiscito, just taking it all in. In the evening, we made our way back to the station and took the train home. Long day, lots of walking, but totally worth it.

DAY 7 – Tuesday 30.07.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

Spent the entire day at the beach—just tanning, swimming, and chilling. Nothing else on the agenda, and honestly, we didn’t need anything more. Sun, sea, and no responsibilities. Perfect kind of lazy day.

DAY 8 – Wednesday 31.07.2013

( Night in Roma )

( Colosseum, Roma )

We left early in the morning, drove to the Latina train station, and caught the 8 AM train to Rome. Spent the whole day exploring the city, basically on foot the entire time. We started with Piazza di Spagna, then hit the Colosseum and wandered through the Roman ruins. From there, we saw the Campidoglio, the Arch of Constantine, Colonna Traiana, and the Roman Forum. Later, we made our way to the Pantheon, tossed a coin in the Trevi Fountain, and passed by Montecitorio Palace and Chigi Palace. By the end of the day, definitely needed the rest after all that walking.

DAY 9 – Thursday 01.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( San Pietro, Roma )

We started the morning with breakfast, then headed straight to the Vatican. Spent some time walking around St. Peter’s Square and soaking in the atmosphere—it’s definitely one of those places that feels kind of surreal in person. After that, we kept exploring. Visited the Fountain of Triton, Castel Sant’Angelo, the Quirinale, and Bernini Palace. It was another full day of walking and sightseeing, but a bit more relaxed than the day before. Later in the afternoon, we made our way back to the station and headed home in the evening—tired again, but really happy we squeezed in so much.

DAY 10 – Friday 02.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

After a couple of busy days in Rome, we kept it simple: beach all day. Just laid out, swam, and recharged in the sun. No plans, no clock watching—just letting the day unfold. We stayed to watch the sunset from the beach, then headed back home. Spent the evening chilling, taking it easy, and enjoying the quiet again.

DAY 11 – Saturday 03.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

Spent the whole day at the beach again—by now it was our go-to routine. Swimming, tanning, and just enjoying the rhythm of doing nothing. In the evening, we headed out to Sabaudia for dinner. The food hit the spot, and the vibe there was super chill. After that, we drove to San Felice Circeo and walked around a bit, just soaking in the summer night atmosphere. Warm air, little streets, people out everywhere—it was one of those nights that feels extra good without needing a reason.

DAY 12 – Sunday 04.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( Ninfa National Park, Latina )

In the morning, we visited Ninfa National Park. It was super peaceful—lots of greenery, flowers, and old ruins tucked into the landscape. Really different vibe from the beach, and a nice change of scenery. After that, we headed back and spent the afternoon doing what we do best: beach time. Laid out, swam, and just let the rest of the day flow.

DAY 13 – Monday 05.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( All day on the beach, Latina )

Spent the whole day at Foce Verde beach. Just chilling, relaxing, and enjoying the sea breeze. No plans, no distractions—just a quiet day under the sun, doing exactly what we came here to do: nothing.

DAY 14 – Tuesday 06.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

We spent the whole day at Torre Astura beach—definitely one of the best spots near where we were staying. Clear water, peaceful surroundings, and that slightly wild, untouched vibe that makes it feel extra special. Perfect mix of nature and calm. We didn’t do much, just enjoyed being there.

DAY 15 – Wednesday 07.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( An other sunset on the beach )

Another full day at Foce Verde beach. Same chill energy—swimming, lounging, and not thinking too hard about anything. We stayed until sunset, just sitting there as the sky shifted colors over the water. One of those quiet, perfect endings to a slow day.

DAY 16 – Thursday 08.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

For our final day, we kept it simple and did what we loved most—another full day at Foce Verde. Same rhythm: sun, sea, and no real plan except to soak in every last bit of it. We had lunch at one of the beach bars nearby again, just like the day before. Familiar, easy, and kind of the perfect way to end the trip. No rush, no stress—just enjoying the moment.

DAY 17 – Friday 09.08.2013

( Night at: House of the family of my boyfriend, Latina )

( Manarola, Cinque Terre )

We left around 9:30 AM to start the trip back home, but we made one last little adventure out of it. We stopped for a few hours in Manarola—my first time ever in the Cinque Terre. Even though it was a short visit, it was honestly stunning. Colorful houses clinging to the cliffs, sea views everywhere, and that cozy, postcard-perfect charm. Definitely made me want to come back for a longer stay someday. By 10:30 PM, we finally made it to Casale, and I spent the night at my boyfriend’s parents’ house. Tired, sun-kissed, and kind of still floating in that vacation state of mind.

Weekend in Mascognaz 2013

( Hotellerie de Mascognaz, Valle d’Aosta )

For our first anniversary—during my last year of high school—I really wanted to do something special for my boyfriend. He’d done so much for me that year: driving me around, treating me to dinners, and making every moment feel a little brighter, especially during our summer vacation together. I just felt this strong pull to give something meaningful back—to plan something that was all for him, and for us.

He’d once mentioned a place he visited as a kid—a cozy spot surrounded by snow that left a beautiful memory in his mind. That stuck with me. So I found the place online and booked a little getaway there, even though I had no idea what I was doing. I had to go to the bank to make the payment, and once I got the receipt, I slipped it into a letter and gave it to him as a surprise.

But I didn’t stop there.

I knew the place had a sauna, and he had no idea—so I also got him a swimsuit to bring along. Just a little extra surprise tucked into the plan.

And to make it even more personal, I went through all the messages we’d exchanged during our first year together and wrote them all down in a notebook. It was like reliving the whole journey—our inside jokes, sweet words, silly texts, everything. That book became a little time capsule of our first year as “us.”

DAY 1 – 22.12.13

( Night at: Hotellerie de Mascognaz )

( Me at Hotellerie de Mascognaz )

We woke up early the day of the trip. He was driving—since I didn’t have my license yet—and I gave him the letter on the way to the post office. That was the moment everything started to feel real. He opened it, and the surprise hit him: the trip, the destination, everything I’d planned for us. We quickly realized we hadn’t packed enough warm clothes, so we made a quick stop back at his house to grab more layers. Then we hit the road to Champoluc. Once we got there, the hotel sent someone to pick us up with a snowmobile—it was already starting to feel like an adventure. The ride up through the snowy landscape was honestly surreal, and when we arrived at the hotel, it completely blew me away. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen—totally surrounded by snow, quiet, and cozy. We checked in and then took a little walk around the area. Everything was peaceful, white, and still. Later, we headed to the spa to relax. Warm water, and just the two of us basically —it was perfect. That night, we had dinner downstairs at the hotel which it was included. Everything about that day felt calm, dreamy, and just… right.

DAY 2 – 23.12.13

( Champoluc village, Valle d’Aosta )

We woke up early and had breakfast in the hotel—slow and peaceful, like time was on pause just for us. After checking out, we headed into the village of Champoluc. It was my first time there, and everything felt like a quiet winter postcard—snow-covered rooftops, crisp air, and the kind of calm that settles into your chest. At some point, we found a bench overlooking the mountains. We sat down, shared a cigarette, and just admired the view in silence. It felt like one of those rare in-between moments where everything slows down, and you feel completely present. That’s when I gave him the notebook—the one where I’d written out all the messages we’d exchanged during our first year together. He didn’t say much at first. He flipped through a few pages, then looked at me. And then he cried. Not in a big, dramatic way—just quietly, in that way that tells you everything without needing a single word. That moment… I’ll never forget it. Later, we drove back to Casale Monferrato to his parent’s house.

Pasquetta Courmayeur 2014

( Fonduta Valdostana dinner at the Hotel Bucaneve Pre Saint Didier )

In Italy, the day after Easter—Pasquetta—is usually all about gathering with friends, grilling, drinking, and just enjoying the chaos of springtime. But this year, my boyfriend and I decided to do something completely different.

We went back to QC Terme in Pré-Saint-Didier, the same spa we visited the year before. That first visit had been my very first time in a spa, and I absolutely loved it—but it was just a one-day trip, and we didn’t get to fully soak it all in. The drive was long, and by the time we got back, we were more tired than relaxed.

So this time, we did it differently.

We planned it properly—stayed in the area, took our time, and really let ourselves unwind. No rushing, no pressure. Just warm waters, mountain air, and a break from the usual pace of life. It felt like the best way to honor the holiday in our own way.

Sometimes peace and quiet are the best kind of celebration.

DAY 1 – 21.04.2014

( Night at: Hotel Bucaneve, Pre Saint Didier )

( Me at the QC terme, Pre Saint Didier )

I spent Easter with my family this year—we had a big lunch all together, full of food, stories, and that classic Italian holiday energy. It was warm and familiar, the kind of day that feels like home. Then, for Pasquetta, my boyfriend and I had something more peaceful in mind. We left Casale early in the morning, around 8 AM, and drove straight to QC Terme Pré-Saint-Didier. We spent the whole day there, fully unplugged—moving between the pools, saunas, and those dreamy views of the mountains. It felt like time slowed down. Later, we checked into our hotel nearby and had dinner there. No rush, no pressure—just a quiet evening to end a relaxing day. It was the perfect contrast to Easter, and exactly what we both needed.

DAY 2 – 22.04.2014

( Courmayeur Mount Blanc, Italy )

We woke up early and decided to explore Courmayeur—my first time there. The town was charming, surrounded by mountains and still holding on to that crisp alpine feel. We wandered the streets, took in the views, and just enjoyed the slow rhythm of the morning. Later, we stopped for an aperitif at Café della Posta, a cozy little spot that felt like the perfect way to wrap up our mini escape. After that, my boyfriend drove us back to Casale Monferrato, to his family’s house. A quiet drive home after a peaceful couple of days—still carrying a bit of that mountain calm with us.

Summer break Venice 2014

After finishing my diploma exams, I spent the whole summer working in Casale Monferrato—juggling two jobs, one as a lifeguard at the pool and the other as a waitress at a bar. It was a busy few months, but I was proud of how much I managed to save.

When September came, I decided to use that money for something special—a little trip with my boyfriend. We chose Venice, not just because I had never been there before, but also because it was perfect for a short getaway. I couldn’t take too much time off work, and Venice felt like a city we could really enjoy and experience in just a few days.

And it was magical. The canals, the bridges, the way the light hit the buildings—it felt like stepping into another world. We wandered through the narrow streets, took in the views, and soaked up every second of it. Even though the trip was short, it felt full and meaningful.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of summer and everything I’d worked for.

 DAY 1 – Monday 01.09.2014

( Night at: Hotel Mignon, Venice )

( Venice my favorite Italian city )

We caught the train from Vercelli to Venezia Santa Lucia, with a quick change in Milan. It was an early start—8:35 AM—but by 11:10 AM, we had arrived in Venice. After dropping our bags at the hotel, we headed straight out to explore. First stop: the iconic Piazza San Marco. The square was alive with tourists, light reflections on the water, and that dreamy feeling that only Venice can give. It was my first time there, and I couldn’t stop looking around—everything felt surreal. From there, we wandered without a map, getting beautifully lost in the maze of canals and bridges. Venice has a way of pulling you in with every turn, every quiet little corner. For dinner, we went to restaurant which I don’t remember the name unfortunately. I tried lobster for the first time, and it was unforgettable—perfectly cooked, rich, and delicate. That dinner was one of those moments where you pause and think, wow, I’m really here.

 DAY 2 – 02.09.2014

( Night at: Hotel Mignon, Venice )

( Palazzo Ducale, Venice )

Our second day in Venice started with a deep dive into the city’s history—we spent most of the morning exploring the stunning Palazzo Ducale. Wandering through its grand halls and detailed chambers, I felt like I was stepping straight into another time. The architecture, the artwork, the stories in every room… it was all so powerful. After that, we walked through more parts of Venice we hadn’t seen the day before—crossing bridges, finding little corners of the city that felt completely untouched. Around noon, we visited the Galleria dell’Accademia, where we spent time surrounded by incredible art. The collection was beautiful, and it gave the day a calmer, more reflective rhythm. For dinner, we ended up back at Trattoria Do Forni—this time in a different little room that was just as cozy and lovely as the first. It felt like our own special spot in the city, warm and familiar even in a place so new.

 DAY 3 – 03.09.2014

( Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice )

On our last morning in Venice, we visited the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. It was the perfect way to end the trip—something totally different from the classical art of the day before. The modern pieces, the sculpture garden, and the peaceful atmosphere made it feel like a calm, thoughtful goodbye to the city. Afterward, we headed back to the train station and made our way home. It was a short trip, but so full—of firsts, of beauty, and of moments I won’t forget.

St. Valentine in Bergamo 2015

Since starting university and moving to Alessandria, my boyfriend and I haven’t been able to see each other as often as we used to. Life got a little busier, and time together started to feel more rare and precious.

So, for San Valentino, we decided to take the chance to go somewhere—just the two of us. No distractions, no schedules. Just a little escape to spend time together and reconnect, to celebrate us in a simple, real way.

DAY 1 – Saturday 14.02.2015

( Night at: Hotel Excelsior San Marco, Bergamo )

( San Pellegrino QC terme, Italy )

For Valentine’s Day, we chose Bergamo as our little getaway spot. After arriving and checking into the hotel, we headed out to explore the city. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side—it started raining not long after we got out. Still, there was something kind of sweet about walking through the quiet, wet streets together. Later, we headed back to the hotel to change and warm up a bit. In the evening, we went out for a special Valentine’s dinner at Da Mimmo—a beautifully romantic spot that made the whole day feel extra special. The atmosphere, the food, the wine… it was the perfect way to end a rainy but lovely day.

DAY 2 – Sunday 15.02.2015

( Velentine’s Dinner at Mimmo, Bergamo )

We woke up early the next morning, had breakfast at the hotel, and then headed out to San Pellegrino. We had booked a full day at the QC Terme spa, and it was exactly what we needed. The warm pools, the steam rooms, the views of the mountains—it was pure peace from start to finish. After spending the whole day unwinding and soaking in the calm, we head back home to Casale Monferrato in the late afternoon. It was the perfect way to end a short but meaningful Valentine’s getaway—relaxed, reconnected, and recharged.

Siena, Volterra e San Gimignano 2015

For the Easter weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to escape for a few days and explore Tuscany with a little road trip. With everything feeling so busy lately, it was the perfect excuse to slow down, hit the road, and spend some real time together.

We planned a route through Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, and Volterra—a mix of places filled with history, charm, and rolling countryside. We had passed by the Leaning Tower of Pisa the route was completely new to me.

It felt exciting to visit somewhere familiar in a new way, and even more so to share the first-time experience of discovering these towns together. A trip full of little moments, long drives, and quiet Easter magic.

 DAY 1 – Saturday 04.04.2015

( Night at: ai Canapi, Siena )

IMG_9026.JPG

( Piazza del Campo, Siena )

We left my boyfriend’s parents’ house in Casale Monferrato around 7 AM and started driving toward Pisa. The trip took about three hours, and it rained pretty much the whole way. Once we got to Pisa, we stopped for lunch at a random bar—nothing special, but it was a good break from the drive. After that, we visited the Leaning Tower and walked around Piazza del Duomo. Even with the rain, it was nice to see the famous sights. Later in the afternoon, we continued on to Siena. After arriving, we checked into our B&B and got settled in. Then we headed out for an aperitif in the main square, which was a nice way to unwind. After that, we had dinner at a cozy little restaurant nearby. Once we were full and tired from the long day, we headed back to the B&B to sleep. Even though the weather wasn’t great, it was a good day of exploring and enjoying the road trip.

DAY 2 – Sunday EASTER 05.04.2015

( Night at: in the middle of the Tuscany hills in a ” Agriturismo ” )

In the morning, we spent some time exploring Siena. It’s such an amazing city—I really liked it. We walked around almost everywhere, taking in the streets, buildings, and views. Unfortunately, it was still raining, so we couldn’t enjoy the weather as much as we wanted. After lunch, we drove to San Gimignano. We walked around the town, visited some of the towers, and had a delicious ice cream while wandering through the narrow streets. Even with the grey skies, the town had a special charm. Later in the afternoon, we drove to the agriturismo where we would spend the second night. It was a beautiful place, right in the middle of the Tuscan hills—peaceful, green, and so relaxing. We had dinner there and spent the last part of our Easter Day enjoying the quiet countryside. It was a perfect ending to a busy day of sightseeing.

DAY 3 – Monday 06.04.2015

DSC_0006.JPG

” Volterra, Tuscany “

We had breakfast at the agriturismo where we stayed, then set off for Volterra. We spent the morning walking around the village, exploring its streets and soaking in the atmosphere. It’s a charming place with a relaxed vibe—perfect for a slow morning. After that, we got back on the road and headed to Pisa again. The first time we visited, it was raining heavily, so we hadn’t been able to see much. Luckily, the weather was completely different this time—sunny and even a bit warm—so we had the chance to really enjoy the city. We visited the places we missed the first time and spent a bit more time just walking around and taking it all in. It felt like a proper visit this time. Later in the afternoon, we hit the road and headed back home, wrapping up a lovely little road trip through Tuscany.

Cinque Terre with my boyfriend, June 2017

Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Rio Maggiore – the cinque terre

DCIM100GOPRO

( Rio Maggiore, Cinque Terre )

My boyfriend and I decided to take a little break close to home, and we chose one of the most beautiful places in Italy—Cinque Terre. I had only been there once before, and just briefly, during a trip to Latina in the summer of 2013, so it felt almost like visiting for the first time.

This time, we wanted a different kind of experience, so we decided to go camping. It was a great way to be close to nature, with the sea and the colorful villages all around us. The atmosphere was calm and refreshing, and it was nice to slow down and really enjoy the area.

It turned out to be a lovely little escape, and now I can truly say I’ve seen and experienced Cinque Terre properly.

Day 1 – Friday 02.06.2017

( Night at: Albero d’oro Camping, Levanto )

We hit the highway on Friday, which was a national holiday in Italy—bad timing for traffic! The queue was awful, and it took us around four hours to get there. But finally, we made it to Levanto and checked into our campsite, L’Albero d’Oro. It’s a nice spot with space for both tents and campers, and it had a really relaxed vibe. After settling in, we decided to spend the afternoon in Monterosso, the first of the Cinque Terre villages when coming from Levanto. The full lineup of villages includes Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Monterosso was beautiful and lively, perfect for a warm afternoon walk. In the evening, we stayed in Levanto, where they were having a Notte Bianca—a “White Night” event where all the shops stay open late. The village had such a fun, summery atmosphere, and it was a great way to end our first day.

Day 2 – Saturday 03.06.2017

( Night at: Albero d’oro Camping, Levanto )

We started our day in the picturesque village of Riomaggiore, with plans to walk the famous Sentiero dell’Amore — the “Path of Love.” It’s one of the most iconic hiking trails in Cinque Terre, known for its stunning coastal views and romantic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the trail was closed due to some damage, so we quickly shifted to Plan B: discovering the charming village of Corniglia. We hopped on a quick train ride and arrived at Corniglia, ready for a bit of adventure. To reach the heart of the village, we had to climb nearly 300 steps — a bit of a challenge, but we powered through (even if it felt terrible at the time!). The views from the top and the peaceful, less-touristy vibe of Corniglia made every step worth it. In the afternoon, we headed to Vernazza for a little relaxation. This village, with its colorful harbor and cozy beach, felt like the perfect place to unwind. After a peaceful few hours, we returned to our accommodation to freshen up and change for dinner. That evening, we came back to Vernazza for what turned out to be one of the most romantic dinners of my life. We dined at Ristorante Bar La Torre, perched high above the sea with breathtaking views of the sunset. The ambiance, the food, and the moment — it all felt magical.

Day 3 –  Sunday 04.06.2017

We woke up early, full of excitement, and made our way to Vernazza with hopes of renting a boat for the day. Unfortunately, the sea conditions weren’t safe enough, so our little boating adventure had to be postponed. A bit disappointed, but still in high spirits, we decided to make the most of the day. We took a spontaneous trip to Manarola, a village we’d visited before during our unforgettable holiday in southern Italy back in the summer of 2013. Later, we returned to Vernazza to enjoy the warm summer air and relax under the sun. The town was alive with that perfect coastal energy — laid-back, sun-kissed, and full of charm. We ended the day peacefully and made our way back home, grateful for another lovely chapter in our Cinque Terre escape.

Roomates reunion in Milan, February 2019

IMG_5486.JPG

” Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan “

During my year in Riga, I had the joy of sharing a room with Almu, an amazing girl from Spain who quickly became a close friend. In the second semester, Jeanne, a French girl, joined us in our bedroom. Before Jeanne, we had other roommates, but we never got as close to them as we did with her. Even before she moved in with us, Jeanne had been living in the same Valdemara residence, just in a different room — so it felt like we already knew her.

Fast forward to this year: Almu and Jeanne decided to come visit me in Milan! Almu and her boyfriend started their trip in Turin, exploring the city before coming to stay at my place. Then, the three of us traveled together to Milan, where we rented a cozy Airbnb in the vibrant Isola neighborhood. Jeanne made the journey from Lyon and met us there for the weekend.

It was such a heartwarming reunion — catching up, laughing about our Riga memories, and making new ones in Milan. Erasmus gave us more than just an experience abroad; it gave us friendships that continue long after the year is over.

Day 1 – Wednesday 13.02.2019

Almu and her boyfriend arrived in Alessandria, and I was so excited to welcome them! I went to pick them up with Martina, my friend and classmate since the very beginning of university. We spent a bit of time walking around Alessandria, enjoying the atmosphere, and had lunch together in the main square, soaking in the local vibe. After lunch, we headed home to relax and recharge for the evening. Later on, we took a little trip to Casale Monferrato, where we met up with my girlfriend and our friend Stacy for an aperitif. The setting was perfect — good drinks, good company, and that laid-back Italian evening energy. To end the night, we grabbed some pizza and had a few beers at a cozy pub, chatting and laughing the whole time. It was the perfect prelude to our weekend in Milan, and such a joy to share a bit of my daily life in Italy with friends from abroad.

Day 2 – Thursday 14.02.2019

We started our day early with a little trip to Vercelli — a lovely surprise! The town was calm and charming. We strolled through the streets and had breakfast in the main square, enjoying the peaceful morning atmosphere. At 11:49 AM, we caught our train to Milan, ready for the next part of our weekend. We headed straight to our Airbnb in the Isola district, a lively and well-located neighborhood that made it easy to explore the city. In the afternoon, I met up with Giulia for an aperitif right in Piazza del Duomo, at the Duomo Terrace. We sipped on spritzes with an incredible view — one of those classic Milan moments you never get tired of. Later on, I reunited with Almu and her boyfriend in the vibrant Navigli area, famous for its canals and buzzing aperitivo scene. We had another round of drinks there before heading home for a bit of chill time (and a much-needed nap!). Then, just before midnight, I made my way to Garibaldi Station to pick up Jeanne, who had just arrived from Lyon. Tired but excited, we were finally all together again

Day 3 – Friday 15.02.2019

We started the day with a classic Italian breakfast — a quick but delicious ritual of coffee and pastries — before heading out to explore more of Milan. Our first stop was the impressive Castello Sforzesco, a historic castle surrounded by lush gardens and grand architecture. It’s one of those places that immediately immerses you in the city’s past. At 2 PM, we joined a free walking tour that began at San Nazaro Church and guided us through Milan’s rich history, all the way to the iconic Scala Theatre. Along the way, we made stops at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II — one of the most beautiful shopping galleries in the world — and, of course, the stunning Duomo, which never fails to take your breath away. (You can see a glimpse of it in the photo above!) After the tour, we headed out to Globe Bar for some food and drinks, enjoying the vibrant Milanese vibe. On our way back home, we made one last stop at Piazza Gae Aulenti, one of the city’s most modern and impressive squares — and it was, as always, absolutely amazing under the evening lights. Back at our Airbnb, we spent a bit of time chatting, sharing stories, and winding down after a full day. Eventually, we drifted off to sleep, happy and tired, with hearts full and feet just a little sore.

Day 4 – Saturday 16.02.2019

While Almu and her boyfriend took a day trip to explore Verona, I spent the day in Milan with Jeanne, just the two of us. It was such a peaceful, easygoing day that reminded me of why I love catching up with old friends. We started with breakfast at Jacopo’s place, one of my good friends. It was a chill way to start the morning, and I was happy to introduce Jeanne to him. From there, Jeanne and I grabbed some pizza, then headed to the castle park to enjoy it picnic-style on the grass. The weather was perfect — sunny, warm, and ideal for just lounging and talking under the trees. In the afternoon, we met up with Anna, an Italian friend who had studied with Jeanne during their time in Riga. We reunited over an aperitif at Sofa Café in the Navigli district. Later, we all headed back to the Airbnb, where Almu and her boyfriend had returned from Verona. We spent the evening relaxing and enjoying our last moments together — one of those quiet, cozy nights you wish could last a little longer.

Day 5 – Sunday 17.02.2019

I woke up early, around 8 AM, with that familiar mix of tiredness and emotion that always comes after a weekend full of memories. It was time to say goodbye. I hugged everyone one last time — Almu, her boyfriend, and Jeanne — feeling grateful for the time we’d shared and a little sad that it had flown by so quickly. After our goodbyes, I made my way to the station and caught the train back home. By 12 PM, I was already back in Casale, jumping into my shift at the restaurant where I was working at the time. It felt a bit surreal — one moment laughing in Milan with my friends, and the next, back in the rhythm of everyday life. But that’s what makes these moments so special — they break the routine, fill you up with joy, and leave you with stories you’ll never forget.

Sardinia with my mum and auntie 2019

( At the Phi Beach, from the left: My mum, me and my auntie Claudia )

My first trip to Sardinia was a memorable one — and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It was the summer of 2019, and I spent eight days there in July to celebrate my birthday with my mum and aunt. We stayed on the northeast coast, just a short distance from Porto Cervo. Our hotel, Tre Monti, was perfectly situated in the beautiful Baia Sardinia area, making it the ideal base to explore and unwind.

The combination of stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and that perfect Mediterranean charm made for a trip that felt both luxurious and relaxing. It was a great way to spend time with family, celebrate my birthday, and enjoy the serenity of the Sardinian coast.

DAY 1 – Friday 05.07.19

( Night on the boat Moby from Genova to Olbia )

We left home around 5 PM, with excitement in the air, as my mum and I set off for Occimiano to pick up my aunt. Once we were all together, we continued our drive to Genoa to catch the ferry to Sardinia. The boat was set to depart at 9:30 PM, and after boarding, we enjoyed a relaxing dinner on board, taking in the sea breeze. For the rest of the night, we lounged on the sofa in the music bar, letting the peaceful atmosphere and soft tunes set the perfect tone for the journey ahead.

DAY 2 – Saturday 06.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We arrived in Sardinia around 8 AM, stepping off the ferry and already excited to explore. By 10 AM, we had checked into our hotel, Tre Monti, perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Costa Smeralda. After settling in, we headed straight to Pevero Grande Beach, eager to dive into the famous Costa Smeralda coastline. The sea was nothing short of spectacular — every shade of blue imaginable, from deep navy to vibrant turquoise. It felt like we had found paradise, with the soft sand and crystal-clear waters making it the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty around us. We returned to the hotel for some much-needed relaxation before getting ready for the evening. That night, we went to Phi Beach, an incredible bar right on the water. The atmosphere was just as stunning as the view, making it the perfect spot to unwind with drinks and enjoy the sunset.

DAY 3 – Sunday 07.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We woke up early at 8 AM, excited for another day in Sardinia. After a quick breakfast, we headed to Piccolo Pevero Beach. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t as perfect as the day before — a bit cloudy, so the plans for a day at the beach didn’t go exactly as hoped. Instead, we made our way to Porto Cervo, the heart of Costa Smeralda, where we spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful city. The charming streets, elegant shops, and stunning marina kept us entertained, even though the sun didn’t quite make an appearance. After a relaxing afternoon, we returned to our hotel to rest up. In the evening, we headed out for an aperitif at Skipper Bar in Baia Sardinia, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying the drinks. Afterward, we took a leisurely walk through the shops in Baia Sardinia, exploring the quaint boutiques and enjoying the calm evening. We ended the day back at the hotel, content and relaxed, ready for another adventure tomorrow.

DAY 4 – Monday 08.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We woke up around 8:30 AM, had a delightful breakfast, and then set off for Capriccioli Beach. We spent the entire day there, soaking up the sun and enjoying the crystal-clear waters. It was the perfect way to relax and immerse ourselves in the beauty of Sardinia‘s coast. In the evening, we made our way to Spiaggia Li Mucchj Bianchi, just a short walk down from the hotel, to catch the stunning sunset. The view was breathtaking — the sky painted in shades of orange and pink, reflecting off the calm sea. It felt like a peaceful, perfect moment to cap off the day. After the sunset, we grabbed a bite to eat and then headed back to the hotel, where we relaxed and drifted off to sleep.

DAY 5 – Tuesday 09.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We woke up early at 8 AM, enjoyed a lovely breakfast, and were all set for our boat tour from Baia Sardinia. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side — it was too cloudy for a boat ride, so we decided to head back to the hotel and spend some time relaxing. It was the perfect excuse to unwind, catch up on some rest, and just enjoy the slower pace of the day. By 1 PM, the clouds parted a bit, so I made my way to Spiaggia Li Mucchj Bianchi, just a few meters from the hotel. The beach was still beautiful, and I spent the afternoon enjoying the quiet serenity of the coastline. Later, we prepared for a special dinner at La Rocca, an amazing restaurant just a few kilometers from Baia Sardinia. The food, atmosphere, and views made it a perfect evening out. After a delicious meal, we returned to the hotel, feeling content and relaxed, and drifted off to sleep.

DAY 6 – Wednesday 10.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We woke up a bit later today, around 9:30 AM, and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast before heading out to spend the morning at Spiaggia Li Mucchj Bianchi. The beach was as lovely as ever, with the soft sand and clear waters providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing morning. After lunch, we decided to switch things up and head to a new beach. Just a few kilometers from the hotel, we visited Spiaggia Il Principe. The beach had a slightly different vibe, but it was equally stunning, with its crystal-clear waters and beautiful surroundings. In the evening, we had dinner at the hotel, and afterward, I took a little excursion with my aunt to explore Porto Cervo by night. The village looked magical under the stars, with its charming streets and waterfront views. Meanwhile, my other aunt stayed back at the hotel, enjoying a quiet evening.

DAY 7 – Thursday 11.07.19

( Night at: 3 Monti Hotel )

We woke up around 9 AM, had a relaxed breakfast, and then headed to the beach just next to the hotel for a calm morning by the sea. After soaking up the sun, my aunt and I decided to explore a different beach for the afternoon. We made our way to Liscia Ruja, a beautiful spot not far from our hotel. Just a little higher up, there was a hidden beach that could only be accessed by a private road. We discovered it led us to Nikki Beach, a stunning, exclusive beach where the only way to get there is by boat. The setting was absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed a coffee at the beach bar, taking in the peaceful, unique atmosphere. After our little escape, we headed back to the hotel to relax and prepare for the evening. We then went to Punta Baia for an aperitif at one of Baia Sardinia‘s most amazing restaurants. The views and the drinks were perfect for setting the mood for the night. At midnight, we were already at the Billionaire Club, for my birthday. We partied until 2 AM — surrounded by amazing people and the vibrant energy of Sardinia.

DAY 8 – Friday 12.07.19

( Night on the boat )

We woke up early at 8:30 AM, enjoyed a relaxed breakfast, and began packing up our things. We put most of our belongings in the car and left a few items at the hotel reception before heading out. Like on our first day, we decided to spend our last few hours in Sardinia at Grande Pevero Beach, which had quickly become one of my favorites. The beach was just as stunning as before, with its crystal-clear waters and soft sand — the perfect place to soak up the last moments of our trip. We had lunch by the beach, relaxed for a while, and simply enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. Afterward, we headed back to the hotel to pick up the last of our things and do the check-out. Then, it was time to make our way to Olbia to catch our ferry. The boat was scheduled to leave at 9:30 PM, and by the following morning, we arrived in Genoa around 8 AM, bringing our unforgettable Sardinia adventure to a close.

Florence with my mum, August 2022

It had been a long time since I first wanted to visit Florence. Back in high school, my ex-boyfriend and I had talked about going there, but we never made it happen. Even after we broke up in winter 2017, he had planned to visit Florence, but again, it never came to fruition. Then, my mum also mentioned wanting to go, but I ended up booking a trip to Tunisia instead.

Finally, by mid-August, with no other travel plans on the horizon, I decided to organize a special trip with my mum to Florence. It felt like the perfect time. We planned to spend four days together exploring this iconic city. We decided to take the train to Florence, making the journey part of the adventure. To keep things convenient, we booked a hotel near the train station for three nights and secured museum tickets online in advance to avoid the long lines.

DAY 1 – Monday 15.08.22

( Night at: Hotel Victoria, Firenze )

( Piazza Duomo, Firenze )

We woke up early at 6:20 AM and made our way to Vercelli by car to catch the train. We took the 7:49 AM train, with a change in Rho Fiera, and finally arrived in Florence at 11:52 AM aboard the Frecciarosa. Once we arrived, we headed straight to the hotel, and luckily, we were able to check in right away. We left our bags there and set out to explore the city. For lunch, we went to Coco Lezzone, a charming, typical Tuscan restaurant. The food was delicious, and we had a lovely time enjoying the authentic flavors of Florence. After lunch, we passed by Santa Maria Novella, one of Florence’s stunning landmarks, before heading back to the hotel to relax. The travel had been a bit tiring, but I wasn’t too exhausted, so I decided to take a solo walk around the city. I wandered through the streets, snapping a few pictures of the beautiful scenery, and simply enjoyed the peaceful ambiance of Florence. After my stroll, I returned to the hotel to unwind for a bit. In the evening, we went to Angel Roofbar & Dining, which was absolutely gorgeous. The views of the city were breathtaking, and we really enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere. After our aperitif, we walked over to the iconic Ponte Vecchio, taking in the beauty of the river and the historic bridge. On our way back to the hotel, the weather took an unexpected turn, and it started to rain heavily — it was a bit wild, but we had fun in the rain, laughing and embracing the moment. Despite the downpour, we made it back to the hotel, soaked but happy, ready to rest for the next day of adventure.

DAY 2 – Tuesday 16.08.22

( Night at: Hotel Victoria, Firenze )

( Museo San Marco, Firenze )

We woke up around 7:30 AM, got ready, and headed out to a random little bar for a classic Italian breakfast — just a croissant and a quick coffee to start the day. At 9:00 AM, we visited the San Marco Museum. I’ll admit, it wasn’t exactly my dream spot — it’s mostly filled with religious paintings — but my mum really enjoyed it, and I was happy to go for her. I spent most of the time wandering around, snapping photos of the architecture and art. Afterward, we made our way to Piazza del Duomo, where we stopped to admire the grandeur of the cathedral and take a few pictures in front of one of Florence’s most iconic spots. For lunch, we grabbed something at All’Antico Vinaio, a super famous spot known for their incredible stuffed focaccias. The place was buzzing, and the food definitely lived up to the hype. In the afternoon, we strolled across the bridge and headed to Palazzo Pitti. I hadn’t booked the tickets in advance, so we had to wait in line for a bit — not ideal in the heat, but manageable. Once inside, we explored the Palatine Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, and the second floor. The collection was massive, and we ended up spending most of the afternoon there. By the time we left, we were both pretty worn out. We returned to the hotel to rest and freshen up, and later that evening, we went out to another rooftop bar — this time La Terrazza Rooftop — for a relaxed dinner and drinks. The view was stunning, and the atmosphere was perfect to wind down the day. On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at Venchi for an ice cream. It was absolutely delicious — rich, creamy, and a perfect way to end the evening. Then, happily full and a bit sun-kissed, we went back to the hotel to sleep, ready for another day in Florence.

DAY 3 – Wednesday 17.08.22

( Night at: Hotel Victoria, Firenze )

( Nascita di Venere, Galleria Uffizi )

We woke up again at 7:30 AM and started our day with breakfast at Caffè Scudieri in Piazza del Duomo. The breakfast itself wasn’t anything special, but honestly, the view made up for it — sipping coffee while looking at the Duomo felt like a postcard moment. From there, we walked to the Uffizi Gallery, where we had timed tickets for 9:00 AM. It was such a beautiful experience — the museum is filled with iconic masterpieces, and I really enjoyed every second of it. The only downside was the crowd; it was a bit busy, so sometimes it was hard to fully take in the artworks without getting gently nudged along. We took a short break at Bar Uffizi for a quick coffee, then finished exploring the rest of the museum. For lunch, we headed to Il David Ristorante in Piazza della Signoria. We were seated with a gorgeous view of the square, and the food was excellent — it felt like the perfect Florence moment. After lunch, we returned to the hotel, both of us feeling pretty drained from the long day of walking and art, and took a well-deserved nap. In the evening, we decided to keep things simple and sweet. We returned to Caffè Scudieri, this time for a drink, and sat outside enjoying the peaceful atmosphere in front of the Baptistery of San Giovanni. It was our last evening in Florence, and it felt just right to slow down, reflect, and simply soak up the charm of the city one last time.

DAY 4 – Thursday 18.08.22

( L’Antico Vinaio, Firenze )

I woke up early at 7:00 AM for one last solo stroll through Piazza del Duomo. The morning light was perfect for photos, and the square had that calm, early hush that made it feel even more magical. Meanwhile, my mum stayed back at the hotel to get ready. We checked out around 9:00 AM, left our luggage at the front desk, and headed out for breakfast. We stopped at Bar Gilli, a beautiful, historic and elegant café in the city center. The atmosphere was fancy yet welcoming — the perfect way to treat ourselves on our last day. After that, we couldn’t resist going back to All’Antico Vinaio for another one of their legendary focaccias. Just as we grabbed our food, a sudden downpour hit, so we took shelter inside and waited it out for a bit. Once the rain eased, we decided to walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo — and wow, what a view. The entire city stretched out beneath us, and the cooler weather made the walk incredibly pleasant. We stayed a while to take it all in, feeling grateful for this perfect final moment. On the way back down, we stopped at Gucci Garden in Piazza della Signoria — had a drink, admired the artful design, and popped into the Gucci store. We also passed by Dante’s House, but decided not to go in, preferring to enjoy our last hours just walking and observing the city around us. We returned to the hotel for a bit of rest before heading to the train station. Our train, the Frecciarossa at 17:09, was slightly delayed due to some issues, so we arrived in Vercelli about an hour later than planned. Thankfully, we didn’t have any other commitments — we just made our way back home and got in around 11 PM, tired but full of memories.

Travelling around Italy with my mum and auntie during summer 2023

( Colosseum, one of the seven wander of the world )

While I was living in Australia, I flew back to Italy during the summer of 2023 to spend some time with my family and friends. As a way to reconnect, I wanted to plan something special with my mum—something simple. We weren’t sure where to go at first. Since she didn’t feel like taking planes anymore, we decided to explore by train and ferry—slowing things down and enjoying the journey. Our itinerary included Rome, Ischia, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast—a mix of history, seaside charm, and southern warmth. Midway through the trip, my aunties joined us in Naples. One of the highlights was celebrating my 28th birthday on the Amalfi Coast. The evening before, we had a small aperitivo overlooking the sea, and on the big day, we took a boat to Capri. The island was absolutely stunning—crystal-clear waters, charming streets, and a magical atmosphere I completely fell in love with. After soaking in the beauty of the coast, we made our way back to Sorrento, where we caught the train all the way back to Milan. It was a slow, meaningful trip—filled with family, sunshine, and memories I’ll always cherish.

DAY 1 – Monday 03.02.23

( Night at: Hosianum Palace, Roma )

( Divinity Restaurant, Roma )

We started our day early, waking up at 7 a.m. to get everything ready. My aunt kindly drove us to Vercelli train station, where we caught the train to Milano Centrale. From there, we boarded our Italo First Class train to Rome Termini at 11:15 a.m., arriving in the capital just after 2:30 p.m. Once we got to the station, we hopped on bus 170 and headed straight to our hotel. After a quick rest and some unpacking, we got ready for the evening. At 5 p.m., we met up with Laura, who was already waiting downstairs. Together we walked to Largo di Torre Argentina, and then continued on to the Pantheon, where we met Santina and her boyfriend. We stopped at Venchi for a delicious gelato, and then made our way to the beautiful Piazza Navona. We all enjoyed a relaxed aperitif at Enoteca Corsi, catching up and soaking in the Roman atmosphere. After saying our goodbyes, my mum and I walked to Campo de’ Fiori for dinner. The place we had in mind was packed, so we ended up discovering Divinity Restaurant instead—a lovely spot to end our first evening in Rome.

DAY 2 – Tuesday 04.07.23

( Night at: Hosianum Palace, Roma )

( Trevi fountain, Roma )

We started the day around 8 a.m., got ready, and headed out for a full day of exploring. Our first stop was the Altare della Patria, a striking monument that never fails to impress. After snapping a few photos, we stopped nearby at Bar Illy for a quick breakfast to fuel up. Next, we made our way to the Colosseum. I had really hoped to go inside, but the line was endless—so instead, we admired it from the outside and enjoyed walking around its perimeter. From there, we wandered through the city’s heart, passing by Galleria Doria Pamphilj, the beautiful Church of Saint Ignatius, and of course, the iconic Trevi Fountain—where we took a break for another delicious gelato. In the afternoon, we made our way to Piazza di Spagna, strolled down Via dei Condotti, admired the Flaminio Obelisk, and wandered into the peaceful Villa Borghese, where we visited the Tempio di Esculapio. After so much walking, we were pretty exhausted, so we headed back to the hotel, grabbed a quick slice of pizza, and enjoyed a quiet moment eating on the balcony before resting a bit. Later, around 7 p.m., we went out again for an evening walk through the Portico of Octavia and crossed over to Isola Tiberina, where I couldn’t resist getting a fresh fruit granita. We ended the day with a lovely dinner at O Vittorio, a cozy Roman trattoria, together with Laura, Sara, Santina, and her boyfriend. By 11 p.m., we were back at the hotel, full and happy after another full Roman day.

DAY 3 – Wednesday 05.07.23

( Night at: Hotel Bagnitiello, Ischia )

( Ischia island, Italy )

We woke up around 7 a.m., had breakfast at the hotel, and then caught a bus to Roma Termini to start the next chapter of our trip. At 9:26 a.m., we boarded our Intercity First Class train to Naples, enjoying the comfortable ride and beautiful views along the way. We arrived at 11:29 a.m., excited to head straight to the coast. From Napoli Centrale, we hopped on the metro to the port, where we bought our ferry tickets on the spot. The boat ride to Ischia took just about an hour, and arriving by sea was already a beautiful introduction to the island. Once we arrived in the island, we took a local bus to our hotel, checked in, and had a relaxed lunch by the pool—it felt like the perfect shift in pace after the busy days in Rome. In the afternoon, we freshened up and took the bus again to visit the stunning Castello Aragonese, one of Ischia’s most iconic sights. The view from the castle was absolutely breathtaking and made the visit totally worth it. After wandering through its historic walls, we took the bus back to the hotel and went to sleep early, exhausted but happy from a full and scenic day.

DAY 4 – Thursday 06.07.23

( Night at: Hotel Bagnitiello, Ischia )

( Vagnitiello Brach Club, Ischia )

We woke up around 7:30 a.m. and started the day with breakfast at the hotel. After a few busy days of travel and sightseeing, we decided to slow things down and enjoy a more relaxing pace. So we headed to Vagnitiello Beach Club, a beautiful spot by the sea that also has a small spa area—perfect for some well-earned rest. We spent the day there soaking in the sun, swimming, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. For lunch, we ate right by the sea, with the sound of the waves in the background and a fresh breeze making it all feel like a proper vacation moment. In the evening, we got ready and caught a bus to Forio, one of Ischia’s main towns. It was a nice walk around, although nothing particularly striking compared to other parts of the island. We stopped at Caffè Internazionale for a drink and a bite to eat, and then made our way to Chiesa del Soccorso—a charming whitewashed church perfectly placed to watch the sunset over the sea. After that, we headed back to the hotel and went to sleep, relaxed and recharged for another day of adventure.

DAY 5 – Friday 07.07.23

( Night at: Hotel Bagnitiello, Ischia )

( Giardini Poseidon Terme, Ischia )

We woke up early and, as planned, caught the local bus to reach the Giardini Poseidon Terme. The place was absolutely beautiful—calm, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing. With its many thermal pools and the beach right there, it felt like the perfect escape from everything. We spent the morning moving between the pools and lounging by the sea, just enjoying the slow pace and the soothing atmosphere. For lunch, we stayed inside the thermal park, keeping it simple and relaxed. In the afternoon, we took the bus back to the hotel, had a bit of downtime, and got ready for our last dinner on the island. We chose O’ Vagnitiello, a cozy spot near the hotel and by the water with a lovely view—such a nice way to end our stay in Ischia. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel ( just few meters ) for a good night’s sleep, feeling recharged and grateful for this peaceful day.

DAY 6- Saturday 08.07.23

( Night at: B&B Dimora Cirillo, Naples )

( Piazza del Plebiscito, Naples )

We woke up early, had breakfast at the hotel, and then caught the bus to the port to take the ferry back to Naples. Once we arrived, we hopped on the metro to reach the main central station and walked to our hotel nearby, where we checked in and took a moment to settle. For lunch, we headed to Decumani, a spot famous for its authentic Neapolitan pizza—it absolutely lived up to the hype. After lunch, we met up with my auntie Claudia back at the hotel and took a little nap to recharge. In the afternoon, we went out to explore, walking through the heart of Spaccanapoli, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. We visited Santa Chiara and then the incredible Sansevero Chapel Museum, where we had pre-booked our entry for 5 PM. The Veiled Christ left us speechless. We continued our walk through Galleria Umberto, passed by Piazza del Plebiscito, and made it to the Castel dell’Ovo just in time for sunset. It was the perfect spot to pause and enjoy the view before heading to Sorbillo for dinner—yes, more pizza, because when in Naples… Tired but happy, we made our way back to the hotel and fell asleep quickly, ready for the next adventure.

DAY 7- Sunday 09.07.23

( Night at: B&B Dimora Cirillo, Naples )

( Pompei, Naples )

We woke up around 7:30 am, had a relaxed breakfast at our B&B, and made our way to Garibaldi station to catch the Circumvesuviana train at 10 am. In just about 30 minutes, we arrived in Pompeii—a place I had long wanted to revisit. Despite the heat, we explored as much of the ancient ruins as we could, walking through centuries of history. The site was incredible and truly transports you back in time. By 1:30 pm, we left the ruins and caught the 2 pm train back to Naples. Back at the B&B, we took a much-needed break—a cold shower and a quick nap to recover from the heat and walking. Later in the evening, around 7 pm, I met up with my mum and auntie, who had just visited the Cathedral of Naples (Duomo di San Gennaro). Together, we took the funicular up to Vomero, one of Naples’ more elegant districts. We stopped at Arx Café, a cozy little spot, for a quick and casual dinner while enjoying the cooler air and views. By the end of the day, we were all ready to rest—so we grabbed a taxi back to the B&B and called it a night.

DAY 8- Monday 10.07.23

( Night at: Centro Storico Suite Blu, Sorrento )

( Amalfi village from the boat )

We woke up at 7:30 am, had breakfast, and caught a taxi to the train station to board the 9:18 am train to Sorrento. Once we arrived, we checked into our accommodation, freshened up, and I headed out with my mum for a sweet start—gelato at Amorino, one of our favorites. After a quick walk down to the port for some photos, I returned to the apartment and later we all went out for a stroll through Sorrento’s charming streets. We grabbed a quick lunch at Scogliera Kitchen & Bar, right before catching the 3:15 pm ferry to Amalfi. Once in Amalfi, we explored the picturesque town, including a visit to the stunning Duomo di Amalfi. On the way back down, we treated ourselves to a refreshing local lemon gelato—so simple, so fresh, and absolutely delicious. For sunset, we found the perfect spot at Terrazza 17, where we enjoyed an aperitif with panoramic views over the sea. It was the kind of moment that stays with you. We then caught the last ferry back to Sorrento, and before heading home, we grabbed a slice of pizza or focaccia to end the evening on a tasty note. Then, it was time for rest—ready for the next adventure.

DAY 9 – Tuesday 11.07.22

( Night at: Centro Storico Suite Blu, Sorrento )

( Lunch at Terrazza Celè, Positano )

We woke up around 8 am, and while my aunt headed straight to Positano, my mum and I enjoyed a slow morning with breakfast at Il Fauno Bar—a cozy spot where we could relax and enjoy something sweet. Around 11 am, we caught the bus to Positano, winding through the scenic cliffs of the Amalfi Coast. By 12:30 pm, we had a table booked at Terrazza Celè, a gorgeous restaurant with a panoramic view. My aunt joined us there, and we enjoyed a lovely lunch together in one of the most iconic settings in southern Italy. The afternoon was spent wandering the colorful streets of Positano, browsing little boutiques, and eventually making our way down to the beach. I didn’t swim, but it was still lovely to sit by the water, soaking up the views and the unique atmosphere of this beautiful town. By 5 pm, we caught the bus back to Sorrento. I was feeling pretty exhausted from the past few busy days, so I chose to stay in and recharge, enjoying a quiet evening at home. Meanwhile, my mum and auntie went out to explore Sorrento by night and do a bit of shopping.

DAY 10 – Wednesday 12.07.22

( Night at: Centro Storico Suite Blu, Sorrento )

( Capri Island, Italy )

Today was my birthday, and what a beautiful day it turned out to be. We woke up early and grabbed a quick breakfast at a little café by the port — simple, cozy, and just perfect to start the day. At 9:00 AM, we caught the boat to Capri, and from the moment we stepped on the ferry, I knew it was going to be special. It was my first time visiting the island, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Capri’s charm, its cliffs, the sparkling sea — everything felt magical. For lunch, we kept it casual with some delicious pizza and focaccia on the go as we explored. After wandering through the island and taking in the views from the park, we caught the ferry back to Sorrento in the afternoon. Back at the apartment, we took a little time to unwind and get ready for the evening. Later, we headed out for an aperitif at Bar Terrazza Vittoria, located inside the stunning Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria. It was a dream. The setting sun, the gentle music from a live pianist, and the elegant atmosphere made it one of the highlights of the day. I was completely enchanted. To end the night on a cozy note, we stopped by a small local bar for a bite — maybe just a slice of pizza or a tagliere di salumi, I can’t quite remember — and then finally made our way back home for some well-deserved rest.

DAY 11 – Thursday 13.07.22

( Lunch at Napoli Centrale station, Naples  )

We woke up around 8:00 AM, packed everything, and headed out for breakfast at Fauno Bar, our go-to spot in Sorrento. It was a calm start, and we thought we were set for an easy travel day back home. At 10:00 AM, we caught the train to Naples — everything was on time, and the journey went smoothly. But once we arrived in Naples, we were hit with a frustrating surprise: our 2 PM Frecciarossa train to Milan had been cancelled. So there we were, stuck in Napoli Centrale with time to kill and a bit of stress in the air. We grabbed a quick pizza at the station (because, when in Naples…), and started looking for alternatives. Luckily, we managed to book a last-minute ticket with Italo for the 3:20 PM train to Milano Centrale. After a long ride, we arrived in Milan around 8:30 PM, and from there took another train to Vercelli, where my aunt came to pick us up. We finally made it home close to midnight, after 14 hours of travel. What should’ve been a simple, chill journey back turned into an exhausting day filled with delays, changes, and stress. Definitely not the ending we hoped for, and it left us drained. Still, despite the chaotic return, we’re holding on to all the incredible memories from the trip — and trying not to let the rough ending overshadow them.

New year’s in Valsesia with my mum 2024

( Baita del Noce, Mollia )

After spending four incredible months working in Australia, followed by a sun-soaked holiday in the Philippines, I felt it was time to go home and spend the holidays with the people I love. I decided to head back to Italy for Christmas, eager to be reunited with my family after so long away.

To make the most of the season, I planned a little mountain escape to Valsesia with my mum — a quiet, scenic area tucked in the Italian Alps. For New Year’s Eve, my aunt and uncle joined us, making it a cozy, family-filled celebration to welcome the new year.

Our first stop was a farm stay, where we rented a beautiful chalet. The experience was both authentic and peaceful — a perfect contrast to the months of fast-paced travel. We even got to purchase fresh local food products directly from the farm, which made our meals extra special.

For the second part of the trip, we moved to a lovely little B&B owned by a local woman. The vibe was relaxed and familiar — the kind of place where you feel instantly at home. It was exactly what I needed: quiet moments, slow mornings, good food, and meaningful time with my loved ones.

Coming home reminded me of the beauty in stillness and how important it is to pause, reflect, and just enjoy being close to family — especially after months of wandering.

DAY 1 – 27.12.23

( Night at: Baita del Noce, Mollia )

( Varallo city, Valsesia )

We left around 12 pm, kicking off our little winter retreat, and made a perfect pit stop in Varallo for lunch at La Sfinge — a cozy local spot with delicious food that set the tone for the days ahead. After lunch, we hit the road again and drove up through the winding alpine roads until we reached Mollia, where we checked into our charming mountain accommodation: La Baita del Noce. Nestled in nature, it felt like the ideal hideaway for some peace and fresh air. Before it got dark, we decided to stretch our legs and walk down to the village center. There, we picked up some essentials at the mini market, and just before heading back, we stopped at the farm where we were staying to buy some local salami and cheese — perfect for a rustic and cozy dinner back at the chalet. The day wrapped up simply and beautifully — slow, grounded, and full of that alpine charm.

DAY 2 – 28.12.23

( Night at: Baita del Noce, Mollia )

( at Baia del Noce, Mollia )

We woke up around 8 am to a peaceful mountain morning. The air was crisp and quiet, and I couldn’t resist stepping outside to take a few pictures — the kind of scenery that makes you breathe a little deeper. Later in the morning, we walked down to Mollia village and stopped at Caffè Della Mostra for lunch. The star of the meal? A steaming plate of hot polenta, perfect to warm us up from the inside out. It was simple, hearty, and exactly what you want in a mountain village. In the early afternoon, we wandered through the quiet streets of Mollia, taking in the charm of the small town — stone houses, snow-dusted rooftops, and that unmistakable alpine calm. By the time we returned to the baita, it was time to slow down. We spent the evening relaxing, chatting, and enjoying a light dinner of the local cheese and salami we had picked up from the farm. No rush, no noise — just us and the peaceful rhythm of the mountains.

DAY 3 – 29.12.23

( Night at: Rifugio casa Lobietti, Mollia )

( A donkey of Fattoria Beline )

After a peaceful night at La Baita, we packed up in the morning and said goodbye to our little chalet. Our next stop was the picturesque village of Riva Valdobbia, a tiny gem tucked at the foot of Monte Rosa. We strolled through its quiet streets, soaking in the traditional alpine vibes, and then stopped for lunch at Lo Chalet — a warm, rustic spot that served up delicious mountain dishes with a view. In the afternoon, we checked in at our new accommodation, Casa Lobietti, a lovely B&B with a cozy and familiar feel. It felt like the kind of place where time slows down a little. As evening rolled in, we headed to Alagna Valsesia for dinner at Dir Und Don — a super nice restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and great food to match. After dinner, full and happy, we made our way back to Casa Lobietti and tucked in for the night, ready for another day in the mountains.

DAY 4 – 30.12.23

( Night at: Rifugio casa Lobietti, Mollia )

( With my mum in Pianalunga, Alagna )

We woke up around 8 am, ready for a bit of adventure. After a quick breakfast, we made our way to Alagna, where we hopped on the cable car up to Pianalunga. As we ascended, the landscape transformed — lush greenery gave way to a sparkling blanket of snow. It was magical. Up at Pianalunga, everything was peaceful and bright. The crisp mountain air, the silence of the snow, and the sweeping views made it the perfect moment to snap a few pictures with my mum — definitely one of the highlights of our trip. After enjoying the scenery, we took the cable car back down and stopped for lunch at Edelweiss Restaurant in Alagna. The food was comforting and hearty, just what we needed after a morning in the chilly air. The rest of the day was all about slowing down. We returned to Casa Lobietti, relaxed, and enjoyed a calm evening, soaking in the last bits of our time in the mountains.

DAY 5 – 31.12.23

( Night at: Rifugio casa Lobietti, Mollia )

( Lunch at Ristorante Unione, Valsesia )

We woke up around 8 am, taking our time to relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain morning. After a calm start, we headed out for lunch at Ristorante Unione, a cozy spot with delicious local dishes — the perfect place to fuel up. It was a special moment because my aunt and uncle joined us for the meal, making it even more memorable. After lunch, we all went to a nearby bar to enjoy some hot tea and catch up, warming up from the cold. Once they checked into the same B&B where we were staying, we had a chance to relax a bit before getting ready for the evening. For New Year’s Eve, we had a reservation at Osteria Boccorio for a big celebratory dinner. The atmosphere was wonderful, and we stayed there until midnight, enjoying great food, conversation, and laughter. After the celebrations, we returned to the B&B and drifted off to sleep, excited for the new year ahead.

DAY 6 – Monday 01.01.24

( Christmas tree out of Albergo Montagna di Luce, Alagna )

We woke up and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, soaking in the last moments of our time in the mountains. Afterward, we made our way back up to Alagna, where we took a stroll around the Walser Museum, learning more about the local culture and history — always fascinating to dive into the traditions of a place. For lunch, we gathered at Ristorante Bar Montagna di Luce, where we all shared a delicious meal together, savoring the flavors of the region and the company of family. In the late afternoon, it was time to say goodbye to my aunt and uncle, who were heading back home. After a heartfelt farewell, we made our way back to the B&B, reflecting on the wonderful memories we had made in Valsesia.

Celebrating the 60th bday of my mum 2025

In 2025, I’ll be celebrating my 30th birthday, and my mum will be turning 60. I wanted to plan something special for the two of us, a vacation to mark these milestones. Originally, I had grand ideas of traveling abroad, but my mum wasn’t keen on flying again, so I decided to create a more personal and meaningful experience for us.

I chose a destination that we had visited the year before — a beautiful spot in the Italian mountains. Mum had absolutely loved it the last time we were there, and I knew it would be the perfect place to return to, just the two of us. A weekend away, surrounded by nature, good food, and the peacefulness of the mountains seemed like the ideal way to celebrate both of our milestones together.

DAY 1 – Thursday 09.01.25

( Doha International airport, Qatar )

On Wednesday evening, we said goodbye to Cape Town, boarding a Qatar Airways flight bound for Milan, with a layover in Doha. We arrived in Doha at 5:10 AM, and had a few hours to spend at the airport before catching our connecting flight at 9:00 AM. After a smooth journey, we landed in Milan at 1:25 PM. Once we collected our luggage, we caught the first Terravision bus to Milan Central Station. Starving after all the travel, we made a quick stop at L’Antico Vinaio for one of their famous focaccias — a delicious Italian welcome back. Then came the time to say goodbye to Carmel, and I hopped on the 4:20 PM train to Vercelli. My mum was waiting for me at the station, and once we got home, I was completely exhausted. Still, I stayed up for dinner, catching up with my mum and aunties, before doing a quick tidy-up of my bedroom and finally crashing into bed — tired, but happy to be home again after such an incredible journey.

DAY 2 – Friday 10.01.25

( Night at: Montagna di Luce, Alagna )

( Selfie under the snow with my mum )

I woke up around 8 AM, full of energy and excitement for the day ahead. The first thing I did was organize all the souvenir bags I had brought home — little gifts for my mum and auntie from my travels. After breakfast with my mum, it was finally time to set off on the surprise getaway I had been planning for us. We left home around 11 AM, and although the destination was meant to be a surprise, my mum quickly figured it out as soon as we headed in the direction of Valsesia. Still, it was sweet to see her eyes light up in recognition. On the way, we stopped for lunch at Albergo Ristorante dei Pescatori, a cozy spot with hearty food — perfect for a mountain trip. As we continued our drive toward Alagna, the weather began to change. Snowflakes started to fall gently around us, transforming the scenery into a magical winter wonderland. It was beautiful… and just a little bit tense as the roads got slick, but luckily we made it safely to our destination. We arrived at La Montagna di Luce around 3 PM, checked in, and headed straight to our room. From our balcony, we could see the snow softly blanketing everything — it was absolutely dreamy. We enjoyed a warm hot chocolate at the hotel, taking in the peaceful atmosphere, before heading out for a short walk around the Walser houses, tucked in their snowy landscape. Dinner was included in our stay and was the perfect way to end such a magical day — hearty, warm, and delicious. After that, we headed straight to bed, cozy and content, with the snow still falling gently outside our window.

DAY 3 – Saturday 11.01.25

( Night at: Montagna di Luce, Alagna )

( Alagna village, Italy )

We woke up around 8:30 AM, greeted by the soft light of a snowy morning and the peaceful silence of the mountains. After a cozy breakfast at the hotel, we got ready for a slow and relaxed walk down to the village of Alagna. The morning was wonderfully calm — we wandered through quiet streets, admired the wooden alpine houses, and soaked in the crisp mountain air. It felt so good to move without any rush, just taking in the scenery and each other’s company. For lunch, we returned to Ristorante Unione, a familiar place where we had eaten the year before. My mum had loved it then, and this time was no different — warm service and delicious food made it the perfect midday stop. After lunch, we walked back up to the hotel, enjoying the slower pace of mountain life. Back in our room, we both took a little nap, letting the peacefulness of the setting lull us into rest. That evening, we kept things simple and comforting with dinner at the hotel restaurant, just like the night before. The food, the setting, and the calm made for a lovely end to a quiet, rejuvenating day. After that, it was straight to bed, falling asleep to the silence only the mountains can offer.

DAY 4 – Sunday 12.01.25

( Montagna di Luce Hotel, Alagna )

We woke up around 8:30 AM, enjoyed one last breakfast at the hotel, and then began packing our things. After a slow and relaxed morning, we did the check-out and said goodbye to the beautiful snowy scenery of Alagna. From there, we drove to Varallo, where we took a lovely little walk around the town, soaking in its charm. For lunch, we treated ourselves at Hostaria di Bricai, and it was absolutely delicious — the perfect ending to our mountain getaway. In the afternoon, we drove back home. Once there, I spent the rest of the day organizing my bedroom, unpacking and sorting clothes while chatting with my mum and aunties, just enjoying the familiar comfort of being home again. Later in the evening, we all had dinner together, and since my auntie was still there, I had the chance to say a proper goodbye. Then I finished packing the rest of my things for what’s next, and went to bed, feeling full, content, and a little tired after such a lovely few days.

DAY 5 – Monday 13.01.25

( Sunrise in Rho Fiera, Milano )

We woke up super early at 6:00 AM, and after getting ready, my mum drove me to Vercelli train station. I caught the 7:16 AM train to Fiera, followed by a second train at 8:21 AM to Milan Central Station, where I met Carmel again. We grabbed breakfast at a little café in the station, which gave us a moment to breathe and catch up before continuing on. From there, we took the first available bus to Malpensa Airport. Our flight to Krakow was at 13:05, and we landed smoothly around 3:00 PM. After collecting our luggage, we were supposed to wait around three hours for our Flixbus to Zakopane, but we didn’t feel like sitting around that long, so we tried to be adventurous. We ended up taking a city bus into Krakow’s main train station and from there hopped on another bus to Zakopane, thinking it might be quicker — but it really wasn’t. Despite the detour, we finally made it to Zakopane around 9:00 PM. Exhausted but happy to have arrived, we walked straight to the hotel and went straight to sleep, ready to start the mountain adventure the next day.
