Australia 2025

( Sunset in Gold Coast, Australia )

After five months of traveling and four months searching for a job in Italy, which turned out to be almost impossible, we decided to return to Australia. The plan was simple: better job opportunities and higher salaries awaited us back home.

Day 1 – Saturday, 14.06.25

We landed in Adelaide at 7:00 am, collected our luggage, and met Laura at the airport. She drove us to her house in West Croydon, where we took a quick shower and immediately crashed. The lack of sleep from the night before had taken its toll. We woke up around 4 pm and planned an evening out with Laura and her boyfriend. Dinner was at The Ovingham Hotel, where we tried a kangaroo steak and a classic beef schnitzel. After dinner, we headed back home and went straight to bed, ready to recover from the long travel day.

Day 2 – Sunday, 15.06.25

We started the day a little later, waking up at 9 am. A morning walk took us to the supermarket to pick up some essentials, followed by a relaxed lunch together at home. In the evening, we visited Carmel’s sister’s house for dinner, having dinner there. Later, we returned home, I called my mum to catch up, and then it was time to sleep, resting up for the week ahead.

First week from the 16.06 to 23.06.25

( Gabo, Laura’s cat )

We began the week on Monday with a slow 9 a.m. wake-up and a morning dedicated to handling paperwork for the lawyers. Borrowing Laura’s car, we went out to print documents and complete everything required for the marriage process. On the way home we stopped at Arndale Shopping Mall, where I reactivated my Optus SIM card and grabbed some groceries. Back at the house, we caught up with Laura and ended the evening watching a silly movie, although I can’t remember its title anymore. Tuesday also started around 9 a.m. After breakfast, we visited a few car dealerships to continue our search for a vehicle, then headed home for lunch and some online tasks. In the evening, Laura prepared pasta al forno, and her sister-in-law came over with her girlfriend to watch an Australian TV show together, creating a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. On Wednesday we stayed in bed for most of the morning while I organized photos. After lunch, we test-drove another car at a different dealership and made a quick stop at the mall before heading home. Later, we made tacos for Laura and spent some time chatting with her, eventually settling into a quiet night at home. Thursday began with breakfast before returning to Arndale Mall to sort out Carmel’s Telstra account and book our nail appointments. We came home for lunch, then went to our 2:15 p.m. appointment, which ended up running longer than expected. Once back home, we had dinner and continued organizing photos throughout the evening. Friday started with our 10 a.m. lash appointments, with Carmel going in right after me. We grabbed a quick lunch at McDonald’s, then went to check out another car in the afternoon. Carmel decided to buy it, although we couldn’t pick it up yet. Later, I went into the city to see if I could get some work at The Horse, but the manager wasn’t there, so we returned home for dinner and watched I Cesaroni before bed. On Saturday we were up by 8 a.m., spending the morning organizing photos and doing some writing. We had lunch with Chris and Laura before visiting Carmel’s sister for a short stop and to say goodbye. In the evening, we headed into the city to a pub near Laura’s house to meet Caroline, one of Carmel’s friends, for dinner. Afterwards, we returned home and went straight to sleep. Sunday began with an early Uber ride to pick up Carmel’s new car, followed by a nearly five-hour drive to Whyalla. We grabbed lunch from Bottle and Birds and ate by the ocean before stopping briefly at her house to collect a few things and say hello to her dad. By 4 p.m. we started the long drive back to Adelaide and, completely exhausted, went straight to bed as soon as we arrived.

Second week from 23.06 to 30.06.2025

( Sunset during the road trip relocating to Gold Coast )

On Monday we woke up early and began the day with a stop at Services SA to register Carmel’s car. Afterwards we swung by Bunnings and Coles to pick up food and supplies for the road. Back at Laura’s place we packed the car, finished all the washing, and quickly cooked a pasta lunch. By 11:45 a.m. we were finally on the road for the long drive ahead. After almost seven hours on the highway we arrived at the Broken Hill Outback Resort, our home for the night. We set up the swag, made ourselves a simple sandwich for dinner, and went straight to sleep, completely exhausted from the long day of travel. On Tuesday morning we left Broken Hill around 8:30 a.m. and stopped for breakfast at Wilcannia Café 2836 before continuing through the remote stretches of Cobar and Bourke. By the time we reached Lightning Ridge, just after 5 p.m. and already dark, we were ready to stop. We checked into the Lightning Ridge Outback Resort’s caravan park area for the night, set up the swag again, and turned in early after yet another full day of driving. Wednesday began with a 7 a.m. wake-up as we prepared for what we hoped would be our final long push. A wrong turn sent us accidentally back into Lightning Ridge, but we made the best of it with breakfast at Opal Street Café. From there it was a full day on the road until we finally arrived at the Gold Coast around 8 p.m. Completely drained, we checked into Paradise Isles in Surfers Paradise, where we would be staying for the next few nights, and immediately went to sleep. On Thursday I woke early and went for a refreshing walk along the beach before meeting Carmel back at the apartment so we could start house hunting. We inspected a room in Varsity Lakes, which we ended up choosing later, then continued on to Broadbeach and a few other places that didn’t work out. Lunch was a quick stop at Subway before more viewings, including one that turned out not to be available after all. In the evening we drove up to Brisbane for my interview at a club called SG. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a Gong Cha bubble tea and stopped at New Farm to admire the Story Bridge glowing beautifully at night before heading back to the Gold Coast. Friday started with another walk at the beach, followed by a long conversation about our housing options and our next steps. We had lunch at the apartment and later indulged in a sweet treat from Gelato Messina. In the evening I had an audition in Surfers Paradise at 8:30 p.m., and once it wrapped up we headed home to rest for the night. On Saturday we woke at 8 a.m., packed up, checked out of Paradise Isles, and stopped at Aldi and Coles for groceries while waiting for our new housemates to arrive. We spent the night in our first rented room at 19 Carina Peak Drive in Varsity Lakes, living with Jamie and Katherine. Once we moved in we cooked lunch together and began getting to know them. After a nap we made a trip to Kmart for room essentials, washed the car, had dinner, and settled into our new home for the night. Sunday began with breakfast before heading to Big W to grab a few more items for the room. On our way back we checked out a nearby gym and then spent some time organizing our space. After lunch and a refreshing nap we drove to Main Beach for yet another Kmart visit, although we still had no luck finding chairs. Instead, we bought a table from a lady on Marketplace and treated ourselves to another Gong Cha on the way home. Dinner at the house closed out the evening and marked the end of our very first weekend in our new place.

Third week from 30.06 to 07.07.25

( the pool in our house in Varsity Lakes )

On Monday we spent the morning at home taking care of a few work tasks before Carmel and I drove up to Brisbane in the afternoon. She settled into the hotel while I headed to SG for my shift, and once I finished late in the evening she came to pick me up so we could return to the hotel together. Tuesday began with a slow start as we woke up at 10 a.m., checked out, and enjoyed a lovely breakfast at Icon Café. Afterwards we stopped by Kangaroo Point for a little walk before driving back home for lunch and a short nap. Later in the evening we went out again to watch the sunset at Mick Schamburg Lookout, then made our way back home to sleep. On Wednesday we woke at 8 a.m. and stayed in bed for a while before heading to the sauna to relax. After lunch I joined Carmel on her very first DoorDash deliveries, which was surprisingly fun. We picked up a Gong Cha on the way home and spent the rest of the day resting. Thursday started quietly, with me staying home while Carmel went out Ubering. I packed what I needed for the next days and cooked lunch for her before she drove me back up to Brisbane. We stopped at Messina for ice cream before I checked in at the Roamer Hostel and she headed back to the Gold Coast. In the evening I got ready and went to work. Friday was a simple day with a few errands in the morning and afternoon, followed by my evening shift. Saturday followed a similar rhythm as I spent most of the day resting and preparing for work before another night shift. Sunday was calm and uneventful during the afternoon, and I finished the week with one last evening at work.

Fourth week from 07.07 to 14.07.2025

( Celebrating my 30th birthday in Sydney )

On Monday I woke up and had lunch alone at the hostel restaurant. Later, I went to New Farm for a hair appointment and walked back to the hostel afterward. In the evening, I headed to work. Tuesday was a quieter day in the morning, which I spent getting my nails done before going to work in the evening. On Wednesday, I woke up around 10 a.m. and checked out of the hostel. Carmel picked me up, and we had breakfast at Cerin Pasticceria before she drove me back home. We had lunch and enjoyed a relaxed afternoon together. In the evening, we went to Surfers Paradise to get a bubble tea, then returned home, I called my mum, and went to sleep. Thursday started with breakfast at home, after which I stayed in to pack and unpack while Carmel went out Ubering. She returned for lunch, and I then went to get my lashes done. Later, I went out Ubering with her for a bit, and we visited Pacific Fair to buy shoes. For dinner we had GYG before driving back home and heading to bed. On Friday we woke up, packed everything, and took an Uber to Gold Coast Airport for our 10:10 a.m. Jetstar flight. We grabbed breakfast at Hungry Jack’s and landed in Sydney at 11:45 a.m. From there, we took the train to Circular Quay, stopped at the hotel to leave our luggage—which was a nice surprise—and went for lunch at Whale Bridge. We tried taking a few photos, and after fixing the camera, we returned to the hotel to check in properly. In the room we enjoyed pictures and watched the sunset with Moet Chandon before getting ready for dinner at Nobu at the Crown Melbourne. Before midnight, we returned to the hotel, relaxed in bed with a glass of champagne while admiring the Opera House, and celebrated my 30th birthday, falling asleep afterward. Saturday was my actual 30th birthday. We woke up at 9 a.m. and spent the morning in the room taking photos. At 4 p.m., we got ready and watched the sunset from the bar on the 36th floor. Carmel surprised me with a dinner at Bennelong Restaurant at the Opera House at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Carmen show at 7:30 p.m., which was incredible. Everything from the restaurant to the performance exceeded my expectations. Once back in the room, I called my mum to wish her happy birthday as well, which was a special moment. Sunday began early at 7 a.m. when I woke to see the sunrise, then fell back asleep until 8 a.m., when we ordered breakfast in the room. By 9:30 a.m. we took photos outside the Opera House before returning to the hotel to get ready for a yoga class at Bondi Junction at 1:15 p.m., which Carmel had arranged as a surprise. Afterwards, we took an Uber back to the hotel, had a quick nap, and checked out at 4 p.m. We stopped at the Blu Bar on the 36th floor to relax, have a drink, and watch the sunset while waiting for the airport. We left for the airport at 6 p.m., grabbed a Subway sandwich on the way, and flew back to the Gold Coast at 8:45 p.m., landing at 11:30 p.m. before driving home.

Fifth week from 14.07 to 21.07.2025

( Tallebudgera creek, Gold Coast )

On Monday we woke up early and went for a walk at Burley Heads. Later, I spent some time tanning and relaxing in the sauna. In the evening, we went out for Gong Cha, visited a jewelry store, sorted a SHEIN return, had dinner, and then returned home to unwind. Tuesday started with another early wake-up as we drove to Brisbane to pick up work supplies for Carmel. We enjoyed a picnic by the river with Mixus bubble tea before checking into Sunrise Tequila Hostel at 2 p.m. After a short rest, I worked from 7 p.m. in the evening. Wednesday was a relaxed day spent chilling, sending a parcel for Carmel, and preparing for my evening shift at SG. On Thursday we went to the laser clinic in the morning, rested during the day, and I worked my 7 p.m. shift in the evening. Friday began with a 7 a.m. wake-up and a drive back to the Gold Coast with Carmel after her first shift back as a nurse. Once home we slept for a while, then woke at 3 p.m. for lunch. Later, we stopped by Hungry Jack’s for Nutella Storms, returned home, and watched Marie Antoinette before going to sleep. Saturday started at 9 a.m. with breakfast while Carmel went to work. I tanned a bit and cooked lunch for us. When the car broke down, we decided to relax for the rest of the day, spending the evening watching Territory. Sunday we woke at 9 a.m., had breakfast, and tanned together. After lunch we spent the afternoon watching The Wolf of Wall Street, followed by some time in the sauna. During dinner we watched Amore & Gelato and ended the day heading to sleep.

Sixth week from 21.07 to 28.07.2025

( Marriage certificate 22.07.2025 )

On Monday we woke up at 9 a.m. and spent the morning organizing a few things. By noon we went to the mechanic, then visited the Grove and picked up Gong Cha. After a quick lunch, Carmel returned to the mechanic while I took some time to relax. Later in the afternoon we went to watch the sunset, finished the day with a sauna session, and went to sleep. Tuesday was an exciting day as we flew to Adelaide at 11:05 a.m. to finalize the marriage. We landed just in time, took an Uber, and arrived at Chesser House at 2:45 p.m. There we met Carmel’s sister and brother-in-law, signed the papers, took a few photos, and then stopped at La Buvette Drinkery for a celebratory drink. Afterwards, Carmel and I checked into the hotel to freshen up before returning to the bar for an aperitif, just the two of us. Later, we met Laura at La Louisiana for dinner before heading to sleep. On Wednesday I stayed in the hotel room, sleeping through most of the morning, while Carmel caught a morning flight back to the Gold Coast. I checked out at noon and went to the YHA Hostel to check in and relax for the day. Thursday was a busy day with an interview during the day followed by my evening shift at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all followed a similar rhythm, each evening spent working, with the days mostly reserved for downtime, marking the week with a routine of work and rest.

Seventh week from 28.07 to 04.08.2025

( Jennie bar and wine, aperitif with Laura )

Monday I had the day off, so I kept it simple. I wandered into the city, grabbed a refreshing iced tea, treated myself to some sushi, and then headed back to the hostel. The rest of the day was pure chill time. In the evening, I called my mum for a catch-up before winding down for an early night. Tuesday, Another city trip, but this time with purpose I picked up a new outfit for the week ahead. After that, I squeezed in some rest before heading out to work in the evening.

Wednesday a slow day with sushi (again can’t get enough!) for lunch, followed by work starting at 7 pm. It’s becoming a bit of a rhythm now: chill during the day, work at night.Thursday pretty much the same pattern—relaxing in the daytime and then heading to work in the evening. Friday the day blurred into the night. I rested up, saved my energy, and then powered through another evening shift. Saturday Back to the city for another iced tea run (my little weekend ritual now). After that, I went back for some sleep before heading out for another 7 pm shift. Sunday honestly? I slept most of the day. By evening, I was at The Firm, but it turned out to be a very quiet night. We wrapped things up around 2 am, which meant I actually got to sleep a little earlier than usual a rare treat!

Eight week from 04.08 to 11.08.2025

( Hostel YHA, Adelaide )

Monday I had a cozy day at home before heading out in the evening to meet Laura. We treated ourselves to a little aperitif at Jennie Wine Bar, which was the perfect start to the week. Afterward, I went back to the hostel, called my mum for a catch-up, and ended the night on a calm note. Tuesday to Saturday just work, work, work. Each evening I started at 8:30 pm, so my days were mostly about resting up and saving energy for my shifts. Nothing too eventful, but sometimes routine feels grounding. Sunday was a little more eventful. I had a lash appointment at 12:30 pm, grabbed my usual sushi fix (I think it’s becoming a tradition at this point!), and then met up with Laura again at Hennessy Rooftop Bar around 4 pm. We caught up over drinks with a view, which was the perfect way to wrap up the week. I headed back to the hostel afterward to rest and get an early night.

Back home in the GC with Carmel and then Darwin staying at The Cav.

Evening shift started at 8:30 pm.Saturday another day of sleep, sun, and relaxation. On Saturday I spent the entire day packing, and later in the evening I worked again, following the same routine as the previous nights. Monday 29.09.2025

I was very sick and spent the entire day in bed feeling awful. I watched The Wrong Paris with Carmel, and later in the evening we watched Disturbia, though it didn’t really help and I continued feeling miserable.

Tuesday  30.09.2025

I was even worse, as I was sicker than the day before. Despite this, I had to get ready for the following day and pack. The morning was tense, and Carmel and I had a big fight. By noon, I tried to just relax and feel better as much as possible in preparation for our departure to Cairns the next morning.

Wednesday 01.10.2025

( Rusty’s Markets, Cairns )

We finally departed for Cairns in the morning, hoping a change of scenery would help me recover.

Cairn and North Queensland 2025

/BCtravelbloggerEdit

( Great Barrier Reef from the plane )

In October, while living in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, there was a plan to change houses since the landlord’s mother was visiting from the UK. A perfect solution quickly emerged. Carmel’s sister invited us to Cairns to stay in a large Airbnb for a week at no cost, which allowed for an extended stay for just Carmel and a chance to explore the area, even though Cairns had already been visited in 2020. The result was a delightful two-week vacation in North Queensland.

DAY 1 – Wednesday 01.10.2025

( Night at: Fitzroy Island Resort, Queensland )

( Nudey beach, Fitzroy island )

The day began early, waking at 4:30 am to pack the last few things. By 5:15 am, it was time to head to the airport via Uber for a 6:40 am flight to Cairns. Although the flight was scheduled to land at 9:10 am, a delay pushed the arrival to 10:00 am.

From the airport, an Uber ride took everyone to the pier, arriving at the marina in time for the 11:00 am ferry to Fitzroy Island. Upon arrival, lunch was enjoyed at the island bar, followed by a quick change into swimwear to relax on the famous Nudey Beach.

After some time by the water, it was time to check in, freshen up, and change for the evening. As the sun began to set, a return to the beach offered the perfect view, before heading back to Foxy Bar for dinner. After a long day full of travel and sun, an early night provided much-needed rest.

DAY 2 – Thursday 02.10.2025

( Night at: The Jack Backpacker, Cairns )

( Breakfast at the Fitzroy island resort )

The day started at 7 am with a buffet breakfast at the resort. Afterwards, a morning stroll led to Nudey Beach, where the time was spent swimming and capturing photos of the stunning surroundings.

Returning to the resort, a refreshing ice cream provided a sweet break before heading to the Turtle Conservation Park at 2:40 pm for the scheduled talk tour. After the tour, there was some time to relax before boarding the boat back to Cairns at 5 pm.

Once back in Cairns, the journey continued with a walk to the accommodation for check-in, followed by a quick trip to the supermarket to pick up dinner. The day ended with rest and preparation for the next adventure.

DAY 3 – Friday 03.10.2025

( Night at: The Jack Backpacker, Cairns )

( Rusty’s Market, Cairns )

The day began at 8 am with a visit to Rusty’s Markets, followed by a short walk around the area. The heat made a long stroll challenging, so lunch was enjoyed at La Pizza, a lovely spot that also offered a chance to catch up with Santina.

After lunch, there was time to relax before heading out in the evening to Whiskey and Wine by Crystalbrook, a beautiful location to enjoy the sunset. The night continued with a stroll through the night markets before returning to the accommodation for a restful night.

DAY 4 – Saturday 04.10.2025

( Night at: The Jack Backpacker, Cairns )

( Green Island from the boat on the way out )

We woke up early to do the day tour that we booked on Getyour Guide the full day tour to Green island departing from the marina at 8:30 am and then once in green island we could do snorkeling but unfortunately the tide was very very low so was impossible and then we just chilled a bout around the. We had lunch on the boat and again in the noon we nap and then after we swim a bit since the water actually was pretty warm and very enjoyable. Then around 3 pm we made the way back to cairns on the boat and once we arrived we walked back to the hostel and then we had a quick dinner and straight to sleep.

DAY 5 – Sunday 05.10.2025

( Night at: Palm Cove Carmel’s sis friend place )

( The house where we stayed in Palm Cove )

The day began at 7:30 am with a visit to Rusty’s Markets to pick up fresh coconuts and seasonal fruits. Around 10 am, it was time to check out, call an Uber, and pick up the rental car, opting for full coverage insurance for peace of mind.

The journey continued to Crystal Cascades, where a short hike offered beautiful scenery and plenty of photo opportunities. Later, the day shifted to a family gathering at Carmel’s relatives’ house. While groceries were being done, time was spent playing with the child in the pool. The evening concluded with a BBQ prepared by the brother-in-law, followed by a restful night’s sleep.

DAY 6 – Monday 06.10.2025

( Night at: Palm Cove Carmel’s sis friend place )

( Kuranda Scenic Railway, Cairns )

The day started at 6:30 am with breakfast and lunch preparations before driving to Smithfield terminal. The rental car was parked, followed by a bus ride to board the Kuranda Scenic Train. Upon arrival in Kuranda, the Butterfly Sanctuary was explored, and a quick lunch was enjoyed.

The return journey was aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, with a stop at the Rainforest Skywalk to admire the lush surroundings. Back home by 2:30 pm, the afternoon was spent at the nearby beach with Carmel and her nieces. The evening concluded with a home-cooked pasta with ragù, shared for dinner, followed by a restful night.

DAY 7 – Tuesday 07.10.2025

( Night at: Palm Cove Carmel’s sis friend place )

( Patio of the house in Palm Cove )

The day began around 8 am with breakfast, followed by a quiet morning at home spent with Carmel’s family, playing and coloring with the nieces. After lunch, a trip was made for groceries, preparing for a cozy evening at home. Dinner consisted of a shared chicken meal, enjoyed together as the day concluded. The weather was cloudy and rainy, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

DAY 8 – Wednesday 08.10.2025

( Night at: Palm Cove Carmel’s sis friend place )

( Flying Robin ( the drone ) on the beach )

The day began at 8:30 am with breakfast at home. Despite the weather being less than ideal, a morning trip to Trinity Beach was planned. Gradually, the sun came out, making the drive to Palm Cove perfect for taking photos among the iconic palm trees. A visit to Numi followed for a refreshing ice cream treat before returning home.

In the afternoon, time was spent at the nearby beach with Carmel’s nieces. The evening concluded with a group dinner at Miguel’s, followed by another ice cream stop at Numi, wrapping up a relaxing and enjoyable day.

DAY 9 – Thursday 09.10.2025

( Night at: Palm Cove Carmel’s sis friend place )

( Thala Beach Natural Reserve )

The day started at 5:15 am with an early visit to the beach to watch the sunrise, followed by breakfast at home. Later, a trip to Kuranda was planned for just Carmel and a companion, while the rest of the family had other plans.

Arriving in Kuranda early, most shops were still closed, so a few photos were taken despite the drizzle. A fresh coconut was enjoyed at Fruibies, followed by a stroll through the markets where some local honey was purchased. Before leaving, a stop back at Fruibies offered sugar cane juice and dragon fruit smoothies.

The journey continued with a drive to the palm farm at Thala Beach Nature Reserve for more photos, and then to Port Douglas, stopping at the Four Mile Beach lookout. Due to the weather, plans were adjusted, and the trip back home began around 4 pm.

The evening included a family dinner at El Greco Greek Taverna at 6 pm, followed by a sweet treat at Numi Ice Creamery. The day ended with a restful night, very tired but full of memories.

DAY 10 – Friday 10.10.2025

( Night at: PK’s Jungle Village, Cape Tribulation )

( Daintree ice cream company )

The day began with an 8 am departure, saying goodbye to Carmel’s family. By 9:45 am, the Daintree River Cruise Express was reached for the crocodile cruise. The cruise was relaxing, and despite the calm pace, one crocodile and several birds were spotted.

Afterwards, Carmel enjoyed a coffee at the bar while deciding whether to take another cruise, which was included for free, but the choice was made to continue exploring instead. Crossing the river by car, the journey led to Alexandra Range Lookout for panoramic photos.

Next, a visit to the Discovery Centre was considered, but it seemed more suited for children and a bit expensive, so it was skipped in favor of a quick picnic lunch in the car park. The afternoon included a stop at Daintree Ice Cream Company, followed by Thornton Beach for some relaxation and photos. The final stop was Kulki Boardwalk, though heavy clouds limited the views.

The day ended at the hostel, with check-in and a home-cooked dinner. A call home wrapped up the evening before an early night at 9 pm.

DAY 11 – Saturday 11.10.2025

( Night at: PK’s Jungle Village, Cape Tribulation )

( “fan palm” Dubuji Boardwalk, Cape Tribulation )

The day started early with a sunrise near the hostel, followed by a return to sleep and a 9 am breakfast. Afterwards, a visit to Dubuji Boardwalk offered an incredible rainforest walk, showcasing lush scenery and tranquil surroundings. The nearby Myall Beach was next, though the cloudy weather limited the view.

At 2 pm, a fruit tasting tour provided an engaging and educational experience, featuring ten different tropical fruits and a sample of organic tea. The tour lasted about two hours and offered insight into the variety and flavors of local produce.

Later in the afternoon, a return to Kulki Boardwalk was attempted in hopes of better weather, but the skies remained cloudy. The day concluded back at the hostel with dinner and an early night’s rest.

DAY 12 – Sunday 12.10.2025

( Night at: PK’s Jungle Village, Cape Tribulation )

( Mackay Reef, Queensland )

The day began at 6:45 am with breakfast, followed by a 7:45 am check-in at Ocean Safari to start the tour. The morning started cloudy, but the skies cleared by the time the tour reached Mackay Reef Cay and the nearby sandbar. A one-hour snorkeling session revealed vibrant marine life, followed by an hour of relaxation on the sandbar, enjoying the sun and taking photos.

The tour returned around 1 pm, with wetsuits returned and a stop for ice cream at a nearby convenience store. The next destination was Mason’s Swimming Hole, though the water was too cold for a proper swim. Instead, time was spent at the hostel’s nearby beach, capturing photos and relaxing until rain began at 3 pm.

The evening concluded with a dinner of noodles at 7 pm, followed by a restful night.

DAY 13 – Monday 13.10.2025

( Night at: The Jack Backpacker, Cairns )

( Port Douglas, Queensland )

The day began at 7 am with breakfast, followed by packing the car and a quick stop at Turtle Rock Café to refill water bottles and enjoy a coffee and a soft drink. The journey started with a brief visit to the Tea Company and an ice cream break at Floravilla Ice Cream Factory.

Continuing the drive, the next stop was Mossman Gorge Cultural Center. After taking the shuttle, a hike through the gorge revealed stunning scenery, followed by a picnic by the river. Later, the trip continued to Port Douglas, where an acai bowl was enjoyed at Nectar and photos were taken near the port and at Four Mile Beach.

The drive back to Cairns included a stop at Rex Lookout for panoramic views. By 6 pm, the hostel was reached for check-in. The evening concluded with packing, a dinner of noodles, and a restful night.

DAY 14 – Tuesday 14.10.2025

The day began at 6:30 am with preparations and packing before heading to Bargain Car Rental. From there, the free shuttle took the group to the airport. Breakfast was enjoyed at Hungry Jacks before departing at 9:45 am. The flight landed on the Gold Coast at 12:00 pm, followed by an Uber ride home. The rest of the day was spent organizing the room and relaxing, marking a calm and restful arrival.

After the trip to Cairns with Carmel’s family, and a little time just the two of us, it was really nice I absolutely loved it. We decided to go for two weeks because of the time we had to be out of our home. Jamie’s (our landlord’s) family had her mum visiting, so we were supposed to leave the house and find a new place. But we told them we could just leave for two weeks, put all our stuff in the car, and then unpack everything when we got back, since we hadn’t found a new place yet and, honestly, we kind of like living there.

Few days in GC and then Adelaide 14.10 to 20.10.2025

( Home 95/19 Carina Peak drive )

Tuesday woke up at 6:30 am, got ready, packed everything, and went to Bargain Car Rental. From there, we took their free shuttle to the airport. We had breakfast at Hungry Jacks before departing at 9:45 am. We landed in Gold Coast at 12:00 pm, took an Uber back home, and spent the rest of the day organizing the room and just chilling. Wednesday in the morning, we headed to North Gold Coast to meet up with Erica. Carmel had her first Italian lesson at 8:00 am while I had breakfast and then we went for a hair appointment in Surfers. Afterward, we grabbed a Gong Cha and stopped at Kmart for a few errands on the way home. The afternoon was spent arranging and cleaning the bedroom. In the evening, we enjoyed a steak dinner and watched Crocodile Dundee before going to sleep, enjoying the house all for ourselves since our flatmates still away. Thursday we got up early and went to the shore to do some whale watching. Seeing the whales in real life was incredible. Later, we returned home, relaxed by the pool, and spent the rest of the day packing for Adelaide, cleaning the camera, and editing photos. Friday I left for Adelaide and Carmel took me to OOL airport in the morning. My flight left at 10:05 am, landing in Adelaide at 1:15 pm. I went straight to Laura’s house on a Uber and fell asleep immediately. That evening, I went to work. Saturday I slept during the day and then worked the night again.

And then Sunday off was spent at home with Laura and Chris, relaxing, chatting, and having lunch outside. Chris’s mum came to visit. Basically chilled and chatted all day and then went to sleep early while I called my mum.

First week in Adelaide from 20.10 to 27.10.2025

( Proposal gift of one year anniversary from Carmel )

I spent most of the week at home, resting and catching up on sleep. On Monday, I chatted with Laura in the evening, had a session with my psychologist, and went to bed early. Tuesday was another quiet day, and in the evening I relaxed with Laura and Chris. Wednesday I mostly slept during the day, and Carmel sent me the same flowers for our first engagement anniversary, which was such a sweet surprise. I worked the night. Thursday was a little lonely since Laura and Chris had left, so I stayed home taking care of Gabo and keeping the house in order and then in the evening I went to work. On Friday, I ran a few errands, including a trip to Coles and some office work, Carmel sent me an other surprise a heart-shaped chocolate and flowers delivered on the door which it was very cute and then I went to work in the evening. Saturday I worked in the evening, so I spent the day resting and preparing. Sunday was calm and spent entirely at home with Gabo, enjoying a peaceful day alone while outside was raining.

Second week from 27.10 to 03.11.2025

( Gabo, Laura’s cat )

Monday and Tuesday were spent mostly at home. I did the groceries, wrote a letter to Carmel for our anniversary, and organised everything to surprise her next week for her birthday. From Wednesday to Saturday, I worked every night and spent the days mostly sleeping and catching up on rest, while also writing and posting on Instagram when I could. By Sunday, I was completely exhausted from the week and ended up sleeping almost the whole day. The weather outside wasn’t great either, which didn’t motivate me to do much.

Monday 03.11.2025

On Monday, I cleaned the house, went to Coles, prepared the food basket for Laura, packed everything, and then went to sleep early.

Tuesday 4th November

( Mecca’s breakfast at Adelaide airport )

I woke up at 5:45 am, cleaned the house, packed everything and headed to the airport. I grabbed breakfast at McDonald’s before catching the 8:50 am flight to the Gold Coast, where Carmel came to pick me up. We went home, finished packing, had a quick lunch and then drove up to Brisbane. After leaving the car in the car park, we stopped at McDonald’s again and then boarded the 4:40 pm flight from Brisbane to Gladstone, landing at 5:55 pm.

Once we arrived, we ordered an Uber, checked into our room and then went out for dinner at the Yacht Club. It felt surprisingly nice to be in such a small, quiet city. After dinner, we headed back and went to sleep early.

Her bday in Heron Island

/BCtravelbloggerEdit

( Swimming with the turtles, Heron Island )

I planned a few days away for Carmel’s birthday and chose Heron Island, a stunning coral cay in Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. From Brisbane we flew to Gladstone and then boarded the ferry to the island, where we spent four nights surrounded by incredible natural beauty. Our time there was a mix of relaxing, exploring and snorkelling in the crystal-clear water. The best part was celebrating Carmel’s birthday in such a breathtaking and unforgettable place.

DAY 1 – Tuesday 04.11.25

( Night at: Gladstone reef motel hotel )

DAY 2 – Wednesday 05.11.25

( Night at: Heron island resort )

( Sunset in the island over the shipwreck )

I woke up at 7 am, got ready and walked to the marina, where we checked in at 8 am. We grabbed breakfast at the bar before boarding the 9:30 am ferry to Heron Island. We arrived at 11:30 am and joined the island presentation, then stopped by the information centre to sign up for a few activities. After that, we visited the marine centre to book the rest of our activities for the coming days. Around 1 pm we had lunch, then checked into our room. We went for a walk around the island, had a quick swim and relaxed on the beach while waiting for the sunset at 6 pm. After taking a few photos, we headed to the restaurant for dinner, shared a pizza and went to sleep early.

DAY 3 – Thursday 06.11.25

( Night at: Heron island resort )

( Kayak with Carmel, Heron island )

We woke up at 7:30 am to celebrate Carmel’s birthday. I wished her a happy birthday and gave her a card before we went for breakfast. At 8:45 am, we headed to the marina to go kayaking, which was amazing. We kayaked around the entire island and completely loved it. Afterward, we went snorkeling and then had lunch. Feeling a bit tired, we took a short nap before I booked a sunset cruise. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side, and the activity was cancelled. Instead, we relaxed at the bar, sipped a glass of wine and watched the sunset. Later, we had dinner at the restaurant and went to bed early, ending Carmel’s special day in a calm and beautiful way.

DAY 4 – Friday 07.11.25

( Night at: Heron island resort )

( The beautiful white beach in the island )

We woke up at 6:30 am went to the beach to take few pics and then we went for breakfast around 8 am and then we decided to do snorkeling around the shore of the island which it was very beautiful. After we took a shower and we went to the beach to take more pics and chill and then for lunch we did take away so we eat fish and chips in the balcony of our cabin. Then we nap a bit and at 4:30 pm we did snorkeling in the channel and then for sunset we did a pic nic on the beach ordering take away pizzas while we watched the sunset. Then at 7:30 pm we did the star gazing activity which it was very interested totally enjoyed it.

DAY 5 – Saturday 08.11.25

( Night at: Heron island resort )

( Sunset cruise, Heron island )

We woke up at 5:30 am and went for a walk to check on the turtles on the island, where we spotted three of them. Later, we went snorkeling in the channel, which was by far the best snorkeling experience we had on the island. The water was incredible, and we saw turtles, manta rays, and even sharks. After snorkeling, we had breakfast and then headed to the beach to relax, take photos, and enjoy the sun. We treated ourselves to ice cream before returning to the beach to nap and unwind. In the late afternoon, we got ready for the sunset cruise at 5:15 pm. The cruise was lovely, though the sunset was a bit cloudy and didn’t fully live up to expectations. Later, we went on a turtle walk, but unfortunately didn’t see any turtles coming ashore to nest. To end the day, we grabbed takeout from the restaurant and enjoyed a quick dinner in bed before going to sleep early around 9 pm.

DAY 6 – Sunday 09.11.25

( Buffet breakfast in the resort )

We woke up at 7:30 am, had breakfast, and packed our things. At 9:30 am, the luggage was collected, and we headed to the beach to relax. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great, so we mostly ended up resting. At 12:15 pm, we took the ferry back to Gladstone, a ride of about two hours. Once in Gladstone, we ordered an Uber to the airport and waited for our 6:45 pm flight to Brisbane with Virgin Airlines. We landed in Brisbane at 7:30 pm, picked up the car from the car park, and stopped at McDonald’s for a quick dinner. After that, we headed straight home and went to bed, exhausted but happy after an incredible trip.

Gold Coast 2025

/BCtravelbloggerEdit

I officially moved to the Gold Coast on 10.11.2025 after five months traveling around Australia, doing FIFO work, and trying to save some money. The past months have been a whirlwind, and honestly, I’m still figuring out where I am and what I’m doing.

Here’s a rough timeline of the last few months:

1st week: Landed in Adelaide and stayed at Laura’s house.

2nd week: Relocation and road trip to the Gold Coast, plus auditions.

3 weeks: Working in Brisbane (plus birthday in Sydney).

3 weeks: Working in Adelaide (plus got married there!).

A few days: In the Gold Coast with Carmel.

7 weeks: Working in Darwin, always sick!

2 weeks: Vacation with Carmel in Cairns and with her family.

3 weeks: Working and house-sitting at Laura’s house in Adelaide.

5 days: Away for Carmel’s birthday on Heron Island.

Finally: Here in the Gold Coast on the 10th on November

1st week: Auditions plus working two nights.

2nd week: Honestly, just exhausted and trying to organize my life.

It’s been a lot to process, but now I’m ready to settle, recharge, and figure out my next steps.

First week from 10.11.25 to 17.11.25

( Pic Nic at the Spit for our anniversary, Gold Coast )

After heron island that we landed on Sunday night in Brissie stoped at McDonald for a quick dinner on the way back home and then went to sleep late like 11 pm.

Monday started with a 10 am breast scan, followed by grocery shopping and a quick Taco Bell lunch. Later, we headed to Harbor Town for Carmel’s Italian lesson before coming home to finally relax and unwind for the rest of the day. Tuesday began early with the excitement of opening SHEIN and Temu Christmas boxes, then off to the gym. Lunch was back at home before a 3 pm appointment at Lauren Lashes Boutique. The evening brought a mix of work and fun with an 8:30 pm audition at Hollywood, wrapped up with Gong Cha bubble tea. Wednesday morning started quietly with a walk by the lake, though it turned emotional as Carmel and I had a fight. I went to the gym afterward, waiting for her in the car, and much of the day was spent discussing and trying to work things out. By 5:30 pm we shared a picnic for our anniversary at The Spit, overlooking the sunset—it was truly magical and a perfect moment to balance the tension of the day. Thursday carried the aftermath of our argument, with a morning spent trying to solve problems. I went for a solo walk by the lake, had lunch, and took a nap while Carmel went to work. Later, I headed to work myself at 8:30 pm, staying at Players until 4 am. Friday was a slower start with a late wake-up and lunch, followed by a sweet trip with Carmel to pick up some chocolates. The evening was quiet and low-key, spent at home dealing with photos and relaxing together. Saturday was productive in the morning, working on my CV and organising pictures. In the afternoon, we ran to Kmart for Teglia and I made lasagne while calling Maria. The evening was cozy and unexpected—Carmel had planned to go to work but stayed home, so we watched Deck the Halls together and enjoyed a quiet night in. Sunday started with the gym and lunch, then we spent the afternoon resting and napping, saving energy for our evening shifts. I went to work at Hollywood from 8:30 pm to 3:30 am while Carmel worked later, making it a long but fulfilling end to the week.

Second week from 17.11.25 to 24.11.25

( Sunset by the ocean, Gold Coast )

Monday started slowly, with a long, lazy morning that felt perfect for sleeping in. Later, we took a DiDi to pick up the car from the mechanic and then collected groceries before heading home. In the evening, we went to the beach to watch the sunset, soaking in the golden light before returning home to cook a steak, curl up with The Christmas Chronicles, and turn in early for the night. Tuesday began with a gym session, followed by a quick trip to Kmart. Lunch was lasagne at home, and the afternoon was relaxed while I worked on photos. In the evening, we went to Burleigh Pavilion at 5:30 to meet Carmel, Maria, and Jayson for dinner, finishing the night back at home. On Wednesday, the morning started again with the gym, and then we headed out to Pacific Fair. We met up with Carmel, Maria, and Jayson and had lunch at Betty’s Burgers. Later, back home, I continued working on photos and managed a small nap before the evening. Thursday was a full day at home spent updating my CV and organising photos. In the evening, we went out to see my friend Mercedes, enjoying some time together. Friday was a quiet day spent by the pool, soaking in the sun. Later, we met Carmel for chocolate before returning home to watch another Christmas movie together in the evening. Saturday morning began with Starbucks, and then it was back home with Carmel for a cosy Christmas movie. In the evening, I called my mum to catch up and share a few laughs. Sunday started with Starbucks once again, followed by lunch at home with Carmel. After getting ready, we went to Freghete for dinner with Carmel and her Italian classmates while Erika sang, ending the week with good food, music, and warm company.

Third week  from 24.11 to the 01.12.25

( Curtis Falls, Mount Tambourine )

On Monday, I woke up early and went to Starbucks to work on a few things—my CV, photos, and other bits I needed to sort out. After that, I headed home for lunch with Carmel, and in the evening we made steak with corn and watched Christmas movies together. On Tuesday, we got up early again and decided to explore Mount Tamborine. We visited Cedar Creek Falls first, then Curtis Falls, and had a picnic lunch. We had to leave because Carmel had her chiro appointment, and while she was there I went to the beach to relax. Later on, we browsed a few supermarkets, ended up in Surfers for an ice cream, and even picked up an advent calendar. On Wednesday, we started the day early as Carmel took the car to the mechanic. After lunch, we went back to pick it up and then drove to Surfers, where I tried to stop by Randstad but it was closed. We grabbed another ice cream at Messina and spent the evening relaxing at home. On Thursday, I went to the gym in the morning and then had an interview with an accounting firm, which didn’t go as well as I hoped. Around noon, I had my psychologist appointment, and later Carmel went to work while I stayed home alone for the rest of the day. On Friday, I woke up early again, went to the gym, then stopped at Starbucks before heading home for lunch with Carmel. Since the weather was beautiful, we spent the afternoon at the beach, and I had a quiet evening at home, going to bed early. On Saturday, I had breakfast, went to the gym, and then spent some time at home sending out CVs. I had lunch with Carmel, and afterwards we went to Kmart to look for a Christmas tree. The rest of the day was spent chilling at home, doing more CV work, and cleaning my room in the evening. On Sunday, I finally slept in and woke up around 11 after struggling to fall asleep the night before. I spent the morning chilling by the pool until it started raining, so Carmel and I went inside for lunch. Later, I took a walk around the lake while she napped. We had dinner together, I called my mum, and then headed to bed.

Recap:

These past three weeks have been intense in their own way.

During the first week, I was trying to catch up on everything I hadn’t done in ages financial tasks, medical appointments, getting back into the gym routine, and simply enjoying being with Carmel on the Gold Coast. I even worked two nights because I didn’t want to give up dancing; at the time, I really believed I could manage both.

The second week felt much smoother. I was more organised, and Carmel and I argued less. We caught up with Maria and Jayson, and I also met up with Mercedes. On Sunday, Carmel and I met up for a pizza night with her Italian classmates, which made me feel more alive and connected again. I worked on my CV, started contacting agencies, sent out applications on Seek, and spent time at the gym and at Starbucks for better Wi-Fi and air-con.

By the third week, I felt much more focused. I went to the gym consistently and kept my Starbucks routine too. Early in the week, Carmel and I explored Tamborine Mountain, and we went to the beach several times as well thanks to the nicer weather. I wrote a cover letter and applied for lots of government roles. I also decided to let go of dancing for now and made a plan to return in January if I still haven’t found a job by then.

Fourth week from 01.12 to 08.12.2025

( Advent calendar, Varsity lakes )

The first day of December kicked off with a productive morning at Starbucks in hand while sending out a few CVs and updating some pictures, followed by a quick grocery run to Coles. Lunch with Carmel set a cozy tone for the day. With her Italian lesson canceled, we decided to make the most of the afternoon and went to pick out our Christmas tree in Tweed Heads. We found it through a random lady on Marketplace, and yes it was perfect! It even came with matching flowers and self-lighting features. By evening, our tree was up, sparkling with decorations around the house that we had picked up on SHEIN and Temu a delightful way to kick off the holiday season. Tuesday was all about movement and adventure. After a morning gym session, we embarked on a spontaneous day trip to Byron Bay. Since Carmel had never been, we made sure to hit all the highlights: a beachside picnic, a hike to the lighthouse, and then a stop in the city for ice cream at Frankie’s Gelato Naturale. We capped the day with a stunning sunset before driving back home.

Wednesday was a slower, more relaxed day. The morning was spent running errands, followed by a cozy lunch at home. In the afternoon, we went Christmas shopping to make sure our festive spirit was fully stocked. By evening, we enjoyed a peaceful walk by the lake together—a perfect, calm end to the day. Thursday began with Carmel off to work while I focused on sending CVs in the morning. When she returned, we hit the gym together around noon and then called it an early night sometimes rest is just as important as adventure. Friday felt like a mini adventure. After our usual gym session and lunch, Carmel’s shift got canceled, so we seized the chance to relax by the pool. Later, we drove up to Brisbane to catch up with Laura and Chris at Joey’s for a casual aperitif. We strolled around South Bank afterward, exploring the Christmas markets and sipping bubble tea—a charming way to welcome the weekend. Saturday was a mix of errands and quiet moments. While Carmel worked, I spent the day sending CVs and contacting agencies. In the evening, I took a walk by the river while chatting with Chiara before heading home to wait for Carmel so we could enjoy dinner and an early night together. Sunday started with the gym and a slow morning. After lunch with Carmel, she went back to sleep, but later called me while I was walking by the lake her shift had been canceled! We decided to seize the opportunity and went out to the Local for two Aperol spritzes and oysters and then back home early to sleep.

Fifth week from 08.12 to 15.12.2025

( Elf movie by the beach on Surfers Paradise )

Monday started with an interview at Australia Probiotics. After that, I went to Officeworks, then grabbed Taco Bell for lunch. Later, we stopped by Harbour Town to buy fruit and vegetables, and I also picked up a Christmas present for Carmel while she was having her Italian lesson with Erika in a coffee shop. We headed home afterward, I went for a quiet walk by the lake, and we went to sleep early together.

Tuesday was a full day. We woke up and went to the gym, then I worked on my driving licence papers. I went back home for lunch before heading to Carmel’s physio appointment. While she was there, I waited and got ready for an interview. After that, we went to Harbour Town to exchange her Christmas gift. I had another interview, followed by a stop at Robina, and then we finally headed home. We spent some time by the pool, had a shower, and later enjoyed dinner together while watching Cena di Natale.

Wednesday started early with a gym session. Carmel and I grabbed a Slurpee and relaxed by the pool. Later, I attempted an interview and then cooked. After a nap, the mood shifted, and we ended up arguing for most of the evening. Carmel went to work, and I stayed home to unwind.

Thursday began with the gym, followed by a stop at Starbucks. At 1 pm, I had an interview for a room attendant position with an agency, and later at 3 pm, I attended a call centre interview. After that, I returned home and went swimming with Carmel to relax. We showered and spent the rest of the evening chilling and enjoying a quiet night at home together.

Friday was slower. I woke up and went to Starbucks, then to Aldi. I went back home for lunch with Carmel and spent the rest of the day quietly chilling while she went to work.

Saturday started with a gym session. Afterward, I spent time by the pool updating CVs, then had lunch with Carmel. Later, we went to the beach for a Slurpee and then headed to Surfers Paradise for a movie on the beach. We watched Elf and enjoyed the fireworks — it was my first time watching a movie on the beach, and it was amazing. The night continued with a visit to The Island for a drink, but it was too crowded, so we moved on to Nando’s for a relaxed dinner.

Sunday began with a visit to the HOTA markets, which was really nice. After coming home, we had lunch, and I studied a bit for an interview the following week. Later, we watched Red One, took a nap, and finished the day quietly, relaxing together.

Recap 4 weeks at home job seeking:

I spent four weeks at home trying to settle back into a routine. I went to the gym, worked on my CV, sent out applications, did interviews, and organised photos. I really wanted to regain some structure after months of travelling.

Then my hard drive broke down, and I completely freaked out. I’m still waiting for it to be repaired.

In a way, it reminded me of February 2025 this month, when I had to do the same thing slow down, rest, and reset. Back then, it felt necessary and surprisingly nice. This time, though, the waiting dragged on and I started to feel lazy and unmotivated.

Still, things are turning around. Next week I’m going back to work, and I’ve also landed a job as a cleaner. It feels good to be moving again. After four weeks of waiting, I’m genuinely positive and happy to get back into work.

Sixth week from the 15.12 to 22.12.2025

( Sono Lumo, Brisbane )

Monday started with an early gym session, followed by heading back home to get ready for an interview for my first government job as a cleaner at Coomera High School. After that, I slowed things down and spent some time by the pool. When Carmel came back from getting her lashes done, we went to Bunnings together. Later in the day, I did a bit of writing and cooked. Once Carmel left for work, I adjusted the window to make the room darker and ended the day with some much-needed sleep. Tuesday was quiet and productive. I spent the day by the pool updating my CV and sending out a few job applications. In the afternoon, I took a nap so I would be rested for work in the evening. Wednesday was slow and restful. I slept through most of the morning, then we went to Coles to buy some prosciutto. We ate something when we got back and rested again. In the evening, I headed out to work once more. Thursday felt relaxed and unhurried. I woke up around midday and spent time by the pool, then had lunch with Carmel. We bought Christmas presents for her family and shipped them off. Carmel went to sleep afterward, and I went for a peaceful walk by the lake. Later, she went to work, I cleaned the room, and then went to sleep. Friday began with another gym session. After that, I stopped at Big W for petrol and then headed home. I had lunch with Carmel in the afternoon, and later we went for a walk by the river. In the evening, we watched a Santa Claus movie together and went to sleep. Saturday started early with lashes at 8 am. And then our house mates left so we could be home alone for Christmas during those 10 days and properly celebrated it as a first time couple together with a proper Italian – Australian fusion menu. Afterward, I went home, had lunch with Carmel, and took a nap. In the evening, we drove up to Brisbane for an aperitif at Mr Percival, followed by dinner at Felons. At 9:15 pm, we watched the Sono Lumo light show before making our way back home around midnight. Sunday was gentle and cozy. I woke up early while Carmel went to the gym and I stayed home. Later, we went shopping. At 1 pm, we built gingerbread houses for the first time together at QT on the Gold Coast. We then went to Enzo’s in Carrara for an Italian aperitif, and ended the day back home with a sauna, a swim, and sleep.

Seventh week from the 22.12 to 29.12

( Xmas eve with Carmel, enjoy Natale Down Under )

The past week was a mix of work, unexpected plans, and a quiet but meaningful Christmas spent far from home.

After four weeks of effort, I finally landed a job with AHS as a room attendant, starting on Monday at RACV. The timing was a little frustrating, as I had imagined a calm Christmas week at home with just Carmel since our flatmates were away, but sometimes plans change. After work, Carmel picked me up and we headed to Fellons in Brisbane to catch up with Daniela and Milos, my friends from Italy who had just arrived in Australia. It was really nice to see them again, share a drink, and catch up after so long. After that, we went home and straight to sleep. Tuesday was another early shift at RACV, finishing at 2 pm. We did the Christmas groceries and got home completely exhausted. I tried to start cooking something for Christmas, but my energy disappeared quickly, so I ended up just relaxing and going to bed early. On Wednesday, after work, Carmel picked me up at 2 pm. We went home, had lunch, and took a nap before heading out to watch the Christmas lights around the Gold Coast. Apparently, it is a big Australian tradition, especially for kids, but I absolutely loved it. In the evening, we had our big Christmas Eve dinner at home, just the two of us, with an Italian – Australian menu. Thursday was Christmas Day. We woke up slowly, had breakfast, took a few photos, and exchanged presents. Later, we went to the beach and it was so crowded but after a bit the rain started to came in, then came back home for lunch with prawns while watching Home Alone as rain fell outside. It felt cozy and surreal. In the afternoon after the movie, we called our families back home, then had dinner, took a few more photos, and went to sleep feeling grateful. On Friday, after breakfast, we went to Harbour Town to exchange a Christmas gift. Then we headed to Helensvale to meet Daniela and Milos again, picking them up from the station and taking them to see a van they were interested in. After that, we went to Surfers Paradise for an ice cream at Messina and a beer at Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club, before heading home for dinner. It was just me and Carmel, continuing our Christmas down under and taking a few more photos to remember it.

Saturday started quietly. Carmel went to the gym while I stayed home because my back was hurting badly. We watched an Italian movie during lunch while finishing the leftovers, then had a nap. Later, despite my sore back, we went for a short walk. In the evening, we stayed in and watched Emily in Paris the 27 was just a designated day to rest.

Sunday was slow and relaxed. Carmel went to the gym in the morning, and later we went to Pacific Fair trying to find a nice dress for New Year’s Eve, without much luck. We tried Grill’d for lunch, and in the evening we worked for Uber Eats and spent the night working before going to bed.

Eight week from the 29.12 to the 5.01.2026

( NYE at La Luna Beach Club, Gold Coast )

Monday started early, with Carmel and I heading out together to do Uber Eats deliveries. Around midday, we tried to get my hard disk repaired, but the place was closed, or maybe we just couldn’t find it. Either way, it didn’t work out. We went back home for a nap, and in the evening we planned to keep working, but things didn’t go as expected. We had an argument, so I went for a walk by the lake on my own to clear my head. Later, we went to sleep. On Tuesday, we woke up early and went to Harbour Town to buy vegetables and fruit. From there, we started Ubering again. We worked pretty much all day, with just a lunch break at home before heading back out. In the evening, when we returned home, we found our housemates back earlier than expected. That surprised and upset us, especially because it made us feel like they didn’t trust us. We tried to relax by watching Emily in Paris before going to sleep. Wednesday was another busy morning of Uber deliveries. We came back home for lunch and a nap, then got ready to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Mare Restaurant at Beach Club La Luna. It was a beautiful evening with a very good dinner and a great atmosphere. We really enjoyed welcoming the new year together, just the two of us. I didn’t drink, so I drove us home safely, and we got back around 2 am. Thursday we felt a bit tired from the night before, but we still woke up and spent the morning Ubering. After heading home, we attended two property inspections at midday. We had decided it was time to leave our current place and find a space just for ourselves. After the inspections, we went back to Ubering again before finally heading to sleep. On Friday morning, we went to an inspection in Surfers Paradise to see a studio, then went back home. Around midday, Daniela and Milos got a bit lost, so we went to pick them up in Tweed Heads. We stopped at the Dog and Parrot pub in Robina, had a drink, and chatted for a while before dropping them off at Varsity Lakes station so they could head back to Brisbane. In the evening, Carmel and I went back to Ubering. Saturday started with an inspection at 10 am in Ashmore. After that, Carmel and I worked Uber Eats again, stopping for lunch at Nando’s in Robina and a Yo-Chi for dessert. We spent most of the day Ubering and had an early night at home, watching the horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer before going to sleep. Sunday was a bit slower. We went to the gym together in the morning, then headed to Broadbeach to check out another apartment, even though we had already decided to take the studio we saw on Friday. After the inspection, we got another Yo-Chi, then went home for lunch and a nap. In the evening, I headed out to work.

It was a week full of long days, shared goals, and small moments in between, slowly building toward a fresh start and a place we could finally call our own.
