After all I lived in those years, University, Global pandemic, Internship, works i decided to take a break for my self and re discover myself, so do a backpacking trip I thought that could be the best solution like what I’ve done in South Asia in 2019. I started in Mexico actually but it went a bit wrong because I got sick I was trying to get in the atmosphere and than I spent two weeks in bed so I was different. But now that I arrived in Costa Rica I wanted to enjoy my life being myself and rediscovered myself. Just being kind, nice, friendly wake up at the sunrise take the morning energy all those things that I almost forgot and those magnificent emotions that I love to feel. Change bed almost everyday talk with strangers for hours about life and travels, passions, hobby a bit of everything. So I really need those two months of travelling for me and visit different countries. I decided to do 25 days between Costa Rica and Panama, expensive and very tourist country but also very safe countries.

DAY 1 – Saturday 19.03.22

I woke up kind of early I eat something randomly and at 11 am I did the check out I took an Uber and I went to an other hostel. I couldn’t do the check in so I decided to explore the city I walk all over around, well what all the reviews are saying that’s better not visit San Jose was true basically just a ugly city with nothing to do just few churches, national theatre, squares and that’s. I had lunch at the McDonald’s because I needed a burger or something to eat because I was very hungry. Later on after I kept walking around I come back at the hostel in the noon to do the check in and after I just relax at the hostel met two American guys which we exchanged experience and give me few suggestions regarding Costa Rica and than I went to sleep.

DAY 4 – Tuesday 22.03.22

I woke up at 7:30 am did the check out and called an Uber to go at the 7-10 bus terminal to take the bus at 8:40am to La Fortuna where I arrived at 1:00 pm with a little stop in Alfaro Ruiz. Once I arrived at the hostel was to late to do the check in so with a French girl that I met on the bus I went to the supermarket and a bit around the village and we booked a day tour for the day after to the Vulcano, after I did the check in and I went to sleep a little bit because I was very tired from the journey on the bus. Later I went around the city to take few photos before started to rain that I come back to the hostel I met my roommate from Germany Melody she’s really lovely so after we were chatting for a bit we decided to have dinner at the hostel so I went to grab some fruits at the supermarket and we had dinner together we chatted a bit and she also booked the tour to the vulcano for the day after, after we went to sleep.

DAY 5 – Wednesday 23.03.22

Woke up at 7:15 am with my roommate Melody, get ready for the day trip grab a pizza in a bakery and than be ready at 8 am for the departure. The first stop was to visit a waterfall called Catarata La Fortuna it was very beautiful I liked but early in the morning was freezing so I did swim in there it was too cold for me, and all the way down and up was already a lot I didn’t know if I could make it or not actually. Fortunately I did and also we went to the Arenal Volcano to do the hike doesn’t seems that hard actually it was okay, I liked it walking in the rain forest and we also had a chance to see snakes, few insects and different type of plant. Once we got there at the view point as I expect and as the guys that I met in Mexico told me that the Arenal Vulcano most of the time you can’t see because it will be al covered with the clouds and it was like that but still I like it, and we made a great group my roommate Melody, the French girl I met the day before on the bus plus other two German girl it was very nice actually. After the hike we stopped in a lake to swim and have the lunch all together in the park and at the end drinking a shot of pure liquor made at home really strong and than we stopped at the Free Natural Hot Springs River like an hours just to relax and talk all together it was pretty nice. Than we come back to the hostel, shower and eat something, and than we met the other girls at the Free Natural Hot Springs River and we spent the night there all together drinking and chatting.

DAY 6 – Thursday 24.03.22

I decided to do an other day tour and Melody convinced me to stay longer in La Fortuna, it was totally worth it. Well the day trip started at 8 am, the first stop was at Arbol del la Paz a giant three in the jungle. Than we arrived at the beginning of the walk to Rio Celeste, it was a nice walk into the forest the only issue is that it was raining kind of a lot actually but well it was a part of the atmosphere of being in the raging forest I think. Than we keep walking on the path up from the waterfall to visit where this blu water is coming from, actually it was really interesting and I never saw something like that before in my life. Than we keep the tour and we went for lunch in a Costarican place where we had Casado for lunch and later we went to bath in a river that was a bit blu as well not like the waterfall, because in the waterfall isn’t possible bathing if not the cream and all the products that we used the color ll change immediately. After the bath in the river we went back to the hostel, shower dinner with Melody and than we went to the Selina Hostel to meet one girl from Israel that was on our tour for a drink, and around 11 pm we went back to sleep, it was really nice and relaxing and I loved talked with her that it was absolutely an amazing night.

DAY 7 – Friday 25.03.22

I woke up really early at 4:50 am and I went to sleep really late so I was totally destroyed from the night before and the beers that I had. Anyway I did the check out and I went to the bus terminal to catch the bus at 5:30 am to San Ramon. Once I get in San Ramones I wait for like half an hour and I took the bus to Puntarenas at 8:40 am. Once I got in Puntarenas I took a taxi to the harbour to take the ferry at 11 pm to Paquera which the ferry tools only one hours and once I got there to Paquera there was the bus waiting to go to Cobano unfortunately I was the last one leaving the ship so I didn’t get the seat on the bus and I had to stay on the floor till Cobano. Than I Cobano I had to take an other bus to Santa Teresa which it takes like half an hour and I arrived in Santa Teresa at 4 pm more less. I did the check in at the hostel and I went to the beach to walk take few photos and watch the sunset. Later I went out for a dinner at Burger Rancho, and after straight to sleep because I was very tired after the long day that I had.

DAY 8 – Saturday 26.03.22

I woke up and I woke to the Main Street to find an atm to cash out usd to pay the surf lesson that I ll al have at 10 am. I stopped at the supermarket the get some food and then I come back to the hostel and got ready for the surf lesson. The surf lesson was amazing I liked it a lot actually the teacher was super good and we were just a small group of 6 so I could’ve learn pretty well actually. I liked it as well and I really had fun, even if I was very very tired and exhausted after, I think that Costa Rica probably is one of the best place to do surfing since the water is really warm and to too cold as it used to be in the oceans. Later well I did nothing just called my mum chill in the amok and took few photos around. At 4 pm I left the hostel since I have to change it so I packed all my stuff and I went in the street to wait the bus to take me to the Pura Vida Mini Hostel. I arrived there did the check in charged my phone and than I went to the ocean to watch the sunset, and enjoy the summer vibes, later I had dinner at the hostel with mangoes and passion fruit since they are delicious in here I took the opportunity to eat as many as I could.

DAY 9 – Sunday 27.03.22

Woke up at 7:30am breakfast at The Bakery just next to my hostel and than at 10 am I did the check out and I went to beach to relax and chill, it was absolutely amazing the beach in the morning I loved it so much. Later I booked a shuttle to Montezuma only because my body hurts too much from the surf lesson that I did the day before, the shuttle ll leave at 1:15 pm from the hostel and it was very comfortable and quick for only 10$ and one hour ride I arrived in Montezuma. I did the check in relax a bit and than I went to the beach to enjoy the vibes and watched the sunset even if isn’t possible see the sunset in Montezuma only the sunrise, anyway was a good atmosphere I walk around and took few photos and later I went back to the hostel to eat some fruits and sleep.

DAY 10 – Monday 28.03.22

Wake up at 7:30 am breakfast at the hostel than I went to the beach took few photos and at 9:30 am I took the bus to Paquera. At 11:30 am I took the ferry to Puntarenas which arrived there in an hour approximately the same ferry that I took few days ago to Santa Teresa and from there from Puntarenas I took a bus that took me to the main bus station, all the way was pretty easy full of backpackers all around and than at 14:15 pm I get on the bus to Jaco. The bus was very easy they drop me of at the beginning of the street of my hostel, once I got there I did the check in and since was almost the time for the sunset I went to the beach and I decided to have a drink and dinner while enjoying the sunset, the fist bar that I saw was Koko Gastro Pub so I get a cocktail and rice with shrimps while I was enjoying the sun goes down. After that I went back to the hostel to sleep because I was pretty tired from the long day travelling around.

DAY 11 – Tuesday 29.03.22

I woke up around 8 am I went to do a breakfast at Mandarina and I get an Açai which I really feeling it that morning it, sometimes I loved it. After the breakfast I went to the Jaco beach to take few photos and explore it and than I comeback to the hostel made the booking for the chocolate tour that they comes to pick me up at 1 pm. It was pretty expensive tour actually but I think really interesting I’ve learn a lot of things regarding chocolate that I didn’t know absolutely, and the guide explained all the process from the beginning, what’s happened in the history and all the years that took to made the process that we are using today and how different is the chocolate made at home and the one that we buy in the supermarket and we tried all the taste. After the tour they drop me off at the hostel around 4 pm and in the morning I organised a tinder date, and we organised to meet at 5 pm so I just took a quick shower and I called Uber to go at the Tiki bar, a really nice bar next to the ocean. She is really pretty I liked her since the beginning and her English lever is really good so we could easily have a conversation and talk to each other, she was really nervous actually because was her first date on tinder, so we drunk a bit probably I was tipsy we drove a bit around and then she left me at the hostel around 10 pm.

DAY 12 – Wednesday 30.03.22

I woke up early at 6:30 am completely hangover basically my first time drinking after dengue fever, and probably I didn’t really have the energy for that but we had fun. So 6:50 am I was ready waiting for the bus but they didn’t comes to pick me up, I called the company and the bus already left but the tour guide comes to pick me up with his own car, so I had to stay awake for an hour with him that was talking all the time, I had a massive head heche just wanted to sleep but well I couldn’t. One I got there I went to the supermarket to grab something to eat and than I meet the rest of the group that was a yoga retreat group, so a group of lady from US in Costa Rica to enjoy the tropical vibes and the nature energy. The tour was quite good well without a binoculars I couldn’t see anything actually but fortunately the guide has is so I could see a sloth and other few animals but without it is basically impossible. After all the stops we arrived at the Manuel Antonio beach which is really beautiful and we spent there like an hour or a bit more and than we walk back to the exit and we went for lunch at El Avion a very nice and panoramic restaurant, it was a really nice trip and in the yoga group I met an American girl that she loved and worked a bit in Italy so she could speak fluent Italian with me it was very nice actually. And after the lunch we went back to Jaco around 4 pm and than at 5 pm Natly comes to pick me up at the Hoatel, just had a time to take a quick shower and get ready basically and still I was very tired because I couldn’t sleep anything during the way. Nataly decided to take me to a really nice beach Playa Hermosa to watch the sunset there and drink few beers actually I was very romantic, it was along time that I didn’t do anything romantic actually. She’s super nice with me I really like her and we had a really good time after the sunset she took me to eat tacos at Margaritas Jaco and we drink few margaritas so I was again a bit drunk actually and after that she invited me to spent the night with her in her apartment and yes obviously I said yes.

DAY 13 – Thursday 31.03.22

Woke up at 7 am with Nataly went with her to the dentist than we went to have breakfast together at Koko Bar and than she went to work at the beach since she’s a surf teacher. So I stayed a bit in the pool of the hostel chilling and relax after the two days of drinking I was a bit destroyed actually and I organise a bit much stuff and tried to make a new program since I wanted to stay a bit longer in Jaco with Nataly and enjoy better the adventure and the love that I was experiencing and I decided to skip the National Park of Corcovado because I really far and a bit impossible to reach actually. When she finished to work she comes to my hostel to pick me up and we went to drink and eat something at Don Toro Beach in Esterillos while the sun was going down so it was a very romantic evening basically perfect and than we come back home and watched Bridgerton and sleep early.

DAY 14 – Friday 01.04.22

Woke up at 7 am stay with Nataly chilling having breakfast together at home than she brings me back to hostel I extended for one more night and she went to do her nails and than she comes to pick me up and have lunch together at Rancho Bar Tangeri and than I went with her at playa Jaco next to Tiki bar to watching her giving surf lesson to the kids, while I was ready and enjoying the beach vibes and watched at the surfers. When she finished we went back home she took a quick shower and than we went to drink something in Playa Herradura and watched the sunset again but unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best was a bit raining, than we went to pick up her nice and bring her to her family house and than we went to have dinner at Rancho Bar Tangeri again, well I was very tipsy that night I order a pizza that I couldn’t even eat and we were drinking shots that they like like Bloody Mary called Chiliguaro and I absolutely love them but they gets me really tipsy, after we went back home.

DAY 15 – Saturday 02.04.22

We woke up early and she took me to the hostel and she had to go to watch her nice a bit so I relax in the bed for a little while trying to sleep and recovering from the hangover of the day night before. After she comes to picks me and I went to the Beach of Jaco to watch her giving surf lesson while I was relaxing and reading in the grass next to the beach. After when she finished we come back to her house she took a shower and we went to Playa Hermosa again to watch the sunset but without drinking tonight and than we had dinner at La Garza. It was a very chill day but I needed actually after all those days drinking that I didn’t used to it anymore, but well I never drink in 2022 basically it was my first time of the year in Costa Rica.

DAY 16 – Sunday 03.04.22

We woke up very early around 7 am it was Nataky day off and we wanted to go paddling at Herradura beach but it was too busy there was not even a place to park a car so we changed the plan and we went to have breakfast in the mountains it was very nice from her taking me all over Jaco different places every day and going in that place actually it was a bit an adventure like driving for an hour in the forest and than we arrived at Rancho Shadday where we had a breakfast with a view it was very romantic and beautiful actually, and than we went back to Jaco passing by waterfalls and we so few parrots as well. Once we get in Jaco we decided to go to Esterillo beach and spent the day there chilling swimming it was very nice and romantic it was ages that I wasn’t going on a beach with a partner it was absolutely nice I loved it and we played in the water like kids. Later I went back to the hostel to organise everything to leave the day after and buy the bus ticket to San Jose and organising your go to Puerto Viejo. Around 5 pm Nataly come to pick me up after we went to her family house and we went to have the last dinner at the same place where we went the first time at Tiki bar, we had dinner watching and other romantic sunset, we watched six sunset together in a row it was a lot we were spending all days together. After dinner we were thinking what to do I was tipsy even if I should drink and I didn’t want to, but we’ll during the noon I heard about a beach part so I told her and we went there just for a drink that’s what we thought. So we arrived at Vida Hermosa there was a nice party it was very early actually but we keep drinking, and I started to make friends randomly so yes, we ended up in a house doing shots and than we went in a house party, and after the house party of surfers than we went to a club for a bit and than to a house of Nataly friend till 10 am in the morning. It was a crazy night defiantly.

DAY 17 – Monday 04.04.22

Well I still awake with Natalie we went to her house but it was too warm and we couldn’t sleep at all well we tried but it didn’t work, I was literally devastated but she had energy I don’t know how and she wanted to take me to San Jose since I missed my bus, so I booked a hotel and we went to San Jose. Well the drive was very long and I was feeling very very bad actually I wanted to vomit but I couldn’t, one we got to the hotel I took a shower and I feel a sleep immediately she order a burger for me but I couldn’t eat at all. We being in a nice bed with her and air conditioning was very good. Basically I slept 12 hours. It was a good party it was a long time that I wasn’t party like that was very good but we’ll today was so so bad I didn’t remembered the last hangover like that, maybe the last night in Melbourne but no the day after I was better I could take my flight.

DAY 18 – Tuesday 05.04.22

I woke up at 7 am probably or even earlier with Nataly in San Jose, still a bit hangover I went for a shower and than we had breakfast at the hotel we had Casado which is pretty a lot for me as a breakfast than we went back to the room to cuddle and stay a bit together the last moment and getting ready to do the check out at 11 am. She took at the bus station for Puerto Viejo and the bus supposed to arrived at 12 pm, we had to say goodbye it was pretty hard but we’ll i had to do it and still I was feeling so bad from the party that we had on Sunday. I went to buy the ticket and I discovered that the bus was at 2 pm so I stayed there on the bench wait for two hours with a Dutch girl that also she had to go to Puerto Viejo and thought that the bus was leaving at 12pm. I eat and empanada trying to feeling better but I wasn’t than finally at 2 pm the bus leaves and we started the way to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The bus was awful was going very slow, almost not moving we did a break in Limon at 6:30 pm and than finally I arrived in Puerto Viejo at 8 pm. Once we get there me and the Dutch girl we shared a taxi together she stopped before in an other hostel and I went to Playa 506 beach front, I did the check in and I went straight to sleep I was very tired and destroyed from the hangover and the trip of the day.

DAY 19 – Wednesday 06.04.22

I woke up early in the morning I went to the beach to takes few photos and than I walk to the supermarket in playa Cocles to buy something for breakfast, took a quick shower and I rented a bike to go to the Jaguar rescue center, because I wanted to see some sloth before leaving Costa Rica. I went there I bought the ticket but than I had an hour free so I went to Cocles beach I walk around there, it was really beautiful and wild I loved the vibes in Puerto Viejo totally. Later at 11:30 am I went to the Rescue Center it was really interesting the story of all the animals why they where there and I could see them really close like the tucan was amazing and also the mini sloth was pretty cool, monkeys, birds. After that I went back to the hostel to have lunch and later I decided to go to the village and cash out and visit the village and the playa negra, it was really nice I loved drove the bike around there even if it was really warm the weather but I loved it and explore the village the house / cafe etc. very interesting. Later on when I come back to the hostel I stay a bit in the amok next to the beach chill and relax and I decided to have a proper last dinner in Costa Rica since tomorrow I’m leaving the country so I decided to try the Caribbean Casado at the restaurant of the hostel, it is also rice and beans but cooked in the coconut oil and instead of chicken there is fish and than vegetables and platano. After that I went to sleep pretty early around 9 pm.

DAY 20 – Thursday 07.04.22

I woke up pretty early around 7 am I did the breakfast, took a shower and I went to the beach to take few photos around and chill after I took the bike and I went to the village again to try to cash out since yesterday the atm wasn’t working, but nothing also today I couldn’t cash out but at the bank I met the receptionist which she told that I can cash out at the hostel with Wise, so I went back to the hostel I did the check out and cash out and than I stopped a tuk tuk to go to the bus terminal at 11:30 am to Sixaola and after an hour approximately I arrived to Sixaola and the bus stopped next to the border where we have to across the border. On the bus I met two Swedish girl one German and one Norwegian guy that we made a group all together to cross the border and go to Bocas del Toro. First we had to pay 9$ for a tax to get out of Costa Rica and went to the border where they stamp the passport that shows that I left the country than walk on the bridge for like 200 mt till arrived on the other side where we went to the dogana that ask the passport and the fly to leave Panama and covid vaccine so I got the stamp to get in to Panama. So it went everything pretty smoothly I thought was more complicated or more crowded cross the border but no it went very well. From there the guys propose us a transportation to Bocas with a shuttle to Almirante only for us basically so it was good just a bit expensive but very fast and he drop us off directly at the water taxi in Almirante ready to take the boat to Bocas del Toro. So we took the water taxi around 4 pm everything went pretty fast and in half an hours we arrived in Isla Colon and at that time I had to say good bye to the friends I made during this days because we were staying all in different places, I took a taxi very easy and cheap as well and I arrived at the camping. Well at first I was a bit disappointed because is far from everything there was just a little market were I bought a pack of chips just to eat something and I went to the beach in front of the camping just to enjoy the island atmosphere but than I went back and with the wifi I started planning everything for the days after and the documents to get into America as well and I went to sleep pretty early around 9 pm.

DAY 21 – Friday 08.03.22

I woke up at 3 am and was heavily raining so I panicked because that means that all my plans are gone for the two days in Bocas del Toro, anyway I tried to sleep a bit like till 7 am and than I took a taxi to the center to have a breakfast at Amaranto and than I will around the village I booked the ticket for the day after to Panama City and than I went to the supermarket to cook something in the camping since I ll have all the day to stay there, in fact after I took a taxi to the camping and I stayed there all day I called my mum and than I went to the beach when it stopped rain and I went also to Skully’s House to get a drink and watch the sunset. In the evening I cooked at the camping and I went to sleep early around 9 pm. Definitely sad for the changing plan I had to stay there three days but due to the bad weather I’m leaving earlier even if I lost a night because I paused for three nights.

DAY 22 – Saturday 09.04.22

Woke up at 5:30 am getting ready to leave the camping and went on the street to stop a taxi to go to the harbour, fortunately one immediately stopped and I arrived there on time because Te boat was leaving at 6:30 am and it take 30 minutes to arrive in Almirante and from there I took a taxi to the bus station in Almirante to take the bus to Panama City, I booked all this the day before at the boat place in the island and this package travel coast me 40$ which it could be cheaper buy the bus ticket an boat separated. Anyway I took the bus to Panama City at 8 am, it was a long journey. The bus stopped for a lunch break near Santiago for half an hours around 2 pm and than keep going to Panama City. One I got Panama City around 6 pm I discovered that the girl seating next to me and waiting the bus with me in Bocas she’s going in the same hostel as me so it was really nice we chatted all the time on the bus and once we arrived we ordered a Uber to go to the hostel, we did the check in and we went to eat some for dinner at Suvlas Greek Restaurant and than we went to sleep I was very tired after 12 hours of travelling.

DAY 23 – Sunday 10.04.22

I woke up early in the morning around 8 am I did the breakfast at the hostel than I got ready to take a walk around, just to see the area and what’s near me but anyway at 1 pm I booked a guided tour around the city and to the Panama Canal. So after the little walk I went back to the hostel and I went to the pool to relax and take the sun, I ordered a McDonald for lunch so it was very nice. Than I started the tour the guide come to pick me up in a car where I seated in front and on the back there were two German guys which they did the tour with me. It was absolutely worth it first we went to Panama Canal that was pretty interesting and than we went around all over with the car and we stopped at Fishing Pier where you have a stunning view of the city it was so beautiful and than we went to visit the Old town of Panama which it was very beautiful and we stopped in a bar for a drink at Marea Casco Ceviche and Latin Food than we continued to Panama Metropolitan Cathedral till France square. Than we says good bye to the German guys that they stopped there to have a dinner and the tour guide took me back to the hostel where I arrived around 7 pm and I was pretty tired so I went to sleep straight after. 

DAY 24 – Monday 11.04.22

I woke up at 4:40 am to get ready and go to take the bus for the tour at 5 am, I booked a day tour to Saint Blas Island thru the website Viator.

I walked to Riu Hotel and I waited for the keep coming to pick me up, the tour guide guy came I seat in the front and on the back there were five guys from Philippines that the slept most of the time and the guy was driving like crazy, very crazy in the traffic like what they do in the movies. And than finally we arrived where we get off the keep and we took a boat, like little boat to do the tour around the islands. First stop on Island Perro  have a morning snack with watermelon and pineapple, checking out the island was really nice but unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best a bit cloudy. Than we went to Isla Pelicano the weather was better and I could enjoy it more and swimming in the sea was absolutely beautiful. Later we stopped at the natural swmiming pool, where we could see the starfish. And the last stop was at Isla Diablo (Niadup) for a fish lunch and we got the chance to stoped for more than an hour so I totally enjoyed the island vibes and after we went back to the mainland where the keep droop as off, and the guy drove back to Panama City so I got back to my hostel at 7 pm. I was so tired on the way back but I couldn’t sleep and before sleeping I had to go to do a COVID test in the opposite side of my block fortunately was very close from where I was staying and I had to pay 25$. After the test I could finish my day and went to sleep. 

DAY 25 – Tuesday 12.04.22

I woke up at 8 am I did all the documents I was really nervous getting into America I thought they were giving me troubles at then border controls. I did breakfast at the hostel and I say bye to the German girl that I travel with from Bocas and than I ordered and Uber to the airport. My flight was at 11:58 pm I did a quick lunch at then airport and I called my mum and than I get into the plane. I landed at 16:00 pm and once I got in Miami airport the waiting time at the controls was crazy like I had to wait like two hours and than they didn’t ask me anything just the finger proving and the flight out of the country. I was very exhausted so I called an Uber to South Beach that the guy took me to the Hostel where I was staying Posh South Beach I did the check in and than I went straight to the beach to see the sunset and the little houses on the beach and than I went back to the hostel I order a Burger King burger and than I went to sleep.
