My First Flight – An Unforgettable Trip to Belgium 2013

I had the most exciting experience recently – my first time flying! My boyfriend and his friends celebrated his bachelor’s degree, which he had completed the day before the 18th of April, by taking a trip to Brussels. Even though we had only been dating for four months, we decided to go together, and it turned out to be an unforgettable adventure.

I felt both nervous and thrilled as I boarded the plane for the first time, and I couldn’t wait to explore a new city. I wasn’t 18 yet, but my mum allowed me to join him on this special occasion. The four days we spent there were filled with laughter, sightseeing, and unforgettable memories that I’ll cherish forever.

DAY 1 – Friday 19.04.2013

We flew out of Milano Orio al Serio Airport and landed at Brussels Airport, excited to begin our adventure. After checking in at the Aparthotel Adagio Europe, we met up with my boyfriend’s friends and headed out to explore the city. Our first stop was the impressive EU Parliament, where we marveled at the architecture and learned a bit about the European Union. From there, we walked over to the iconic Grand Place, a stunning square surrounded by beautiful buildings.

As the evening rolled in, we gathered at a cozy pub in the city center, where we spent the rest of the night enjoying good drinks, great company, and lots of laughter. It was the perfect way to end an amazing day in Brussels.

The next morning, we headed to the Magritte exhibition, which was both fascinating and beautiful. It was amazing to see his surreal works up close and dive into the world of one of Belgium’s most iconic artists. After the exhibition, we took a stroll around the city, visiting the impressive main cathedral and the beautiful Notre Dame.

In the evening, we gathered for dinner at a cozy pub in the center. Surrounded by good friends and great atmosphere, we enjoyed delicious food and drinks, making it the perfect end to a wonderful day of sightseeing and exploration.

DAY 3 – Sunday 21.04.2013

My boyfriend and I decided to take a day trip to Bruges, a charming little city just a short distance from Brussels. We spent the entire day exploring its picturesque streets, soaking in the beauty of its canals, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Bruges truly captured our hearts with its medieval architecture and quaint vibe, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Holidays from the 02-03-2018 to 11-03-18. Back to Portugal after one year that my second erasmus experience finished. I decided to come back in Portugal during the spring break with my friend Lucrezia that I met her in Tomar while we where living in the same dormitory.

DAY 1 – Friday 02.03.2018

I’m live in Riga so I took the flight to Brussels at 20:40 from Riga airport and the day after an other plane to Lisbon that was the cheapest option. Once I arrived in Brussels I took Uber to go to the hostel called ” Quality Hostel city center ” to sleep.

Visiting our ex university the dormitory and the Mensa, and then spend the afternoon there all together, and than dinner all togeth a O’ Tabuleiro.

DAY 8 –  Friday 09.03.2018

Little walk around Brussels in the morning, it was my second time because my first time was with my ex boyfriend In April 2013 for his graduation holiday. So I remember a bit the city and was a big pleasure have again the possibility to be there. But unfortunately after lunch I went to the Charleroi airport direction Riga. And finally around 9 pm I arrived at home.

Was absolutely emotional come back there after one year and now if I thought about those days feels like a lovely dream. It’s always very difficult day good bye to the person and to the places for me and this time I know that I will be back in Tomar not soon, maybe Lisbon but not my little Tomar.

During summer 2023 after the operating Jasmine ask me if I wanted to join her and her friends at the Tomorrowland festival which it was always my dream, always wanted to go there at 18, well didn’t really made it there at eighteen but at 28 which I was pretty happy to partecipate to this experience in my life anyway. So after the vacation with Jasmine in Tel Aviv I flew to Brussels well I supposed to because I booked the wrong flight and then we stayed there just three days and after I made my way back to Australia from there.

DAY 1 – Friday 21.07.23

We woke up early did the breakfast and we went to Frishman beach and we stayed there till lunch time that we eat in the same place as the first day and than we grand an ice cream at Golda and than we went back to the hotel ordered a Gett to the airport but while we were on the car I realised that I booked the wrong plane to Brussels for Saturday the day after so we couldn’t do anything just went to the airport and I bought an other flight ticket with Jasmine to Milan Malpensa with Wizz Air that supposed to depart at 10:10 pm but got delayed so we departed at 11:35 pm by the time we got in Milan was late to go to Jasmine’s friend to rest few hours so she just took me to Linate airport and she went to her friends house to rest and I stayed at the airport to sleep there on the floor waiting to catch my flight to Brussel at 7 am.

DAY 2 – Saturday 22.07.2023

Woke up and got ready in Milan Linate airport to catch my second flight at 7:00 am to Brussels with Ita airways and landing at 8:35 am. Once I got there I was very tired so I tried to sleep more at the airport till mid day when Jasmine and Valentina arrived as well so we took the train to Antwerp which we got there in the late noon and we did the check in at the hotel. Then we waited for an other friend and two boys friends with Valentina and we went for dinner at El Rancho Steak house and then we went to sleep all four together in one bed because this was the only thing that Jasmine booked and when I decided to go obviously everything was sold out in town.

DAY 3 – Sunday 23.07.2023

We woke up early got ready went for breakfast, meet up with the two boys as well and from our hotel lobby we decided to make our way to the festival which the only option was a taxi, obviously expensive but the only option. Then we got in around 2 pm and we stayed there all day, it was amazing, walked all around in all the different sections. Unfortunately was raining a bit so it got very cold unexpectedly but it was okay and we stayed there till closing which it was at mid night. We were very tired and we made our way out very slowly with many many other people and then we walked for like an hour to try to find where all the taxi / shuttle to Antwerp city is and after under the rain in the dark we found the shuttle. Went back to the hotel, showered and we went to sleep.

DAY 4 – Monday 24.07.2023

We woke up pretty early and Jona left early in the morning which me Jasmine and Valentina we had breakfast and then we caught the train to the airport had lunch there and the when it was my time to check in they came with me said goodbye and the I started to make my way back to Australia, had to catch three flights. The first flight was at 15:20 pm from Brussels with Emirates to Dubai landing at 23:55 pm. Had a little layover in Dubai and that at 3:25 am I board for the second flight with Emirates to Bali where I landed at 16:35 pm. Had dinner there and organizing pics then I board for the third flight at 21:30 pm with Jetstar to Darwin where I landed at 1:40 am and Carmel come to pick me up and gave me a spare key of her apartment to go to live together and gave me the preset for my birthday it was very sweet.
