6 days in Colombia 2024
After Dominican Republic we flew to Colombia, precisely Bogota the capital city. We weren’t very sure about the program but at the beginning we thought about doing only Bogota but then we discovered that we couldn’t do Ecuador due to some safety reasons so we could stayed a bit longer in Colombia deciding to visiting Medellin as well.
DAY 1 – Tuesday 16.01.21

From Punta Cana we took the bus to the Las Amaricanas airport in Santo Domingo at 2:00 pm to get the flight at 9:55 pm with Wingo to Bogota, where we landed around mid night. From there we booked the shuttle thru the hotel to get there, doing the check in and going to sleep.
The morning after we woke up around 8 am did the breakfast in the hotel and then get an Uber to the Journalists Park where the free Graffiti tour started at 10 am. It was a short and interesting to as an introduction to the city and the Graffiti neighborhood. We finished the tour at the bar Cafe Herencia while we tried some Coca leaf tea.
After we decided to explore La Candelaria neighborhood by ourselves since we were feeling safe. Stopping for lunch in a traditional Colombian restaurant called Puerta Falsa.
Then we walked to Plaza Bolivar, famous square, visiting the Catedral Primada del Colombia, passing by the capitolio National.
Then walk to Santuario nuestra senora del Carmen, gotich church dedicated to Virgin Mary which unfortunately we couldn’t get in because it was already closed. Later on and last stop we did the Museo dell’oro. Grabbing some empanada for dinner at Journalists Park where we started the day and from there get an Uber back to the hotel.
DAY 2 – Wednesday 17.01.24

Wake up at 8:00 am, had breakfast in the hotel and then get an Uber to the Monserrate Funicular to take the cable up to the Sanctuary.
We got up there around 10:30 am, we wonder around and enjoyed the amazing view on the city. Later on we went down with the funicular and we walked to La Candelaria while we grabbed some local food for lunch. At 1:30 pm we had the meeting in La Candelaria to start the bike tour around the city for like four hours and we went basically everywhere. Starting from the Bolivian square, fruit market, stopping in front of the Arena, passing by an old neighborhood, then having a typical coffee and going back to La Candelaria. Before going back to the hotel we stopped in a random shop where we get some empanadas for dinner.
DAY 3 – Thursday 18.01.24

Woke up at 7 am did the breakfast quickly in the hotel and then grab an Uber to go up north to meet the Italian couple to get the ride together to the Salt Cathedral. It took like an hour and half to get there, once we arrived we get a guide in the cathedral which explained everything about it and then leave us free time at the end to take some pics so in total we stayed there like three hours. Once we finished and we get out we stooped just out of the Cathedral to have a quick lunch and then we met the driver that took us back to La Candelaria precisely to the Botero museum where we said goodbye to the couple and we went to the museum. After the museum we took an Uber to the train station to figured it out how to get to Medellin and we decided to buy the ticket that was leaving at 23:00pm from the Bogota Terminal Salitre. Then we went back to the hotel took a shower, had dinner near the Hotel in Tesaquillo and then get and Uber to the Terminal and get on the bus for the night.
DAY 4 – Friday 19.01.24

We arrived in Medellin around 9 am totally tired from the night on the bus so we immediately took an Uber to go to the hotel. We couldn’t do the check in because it was too early so we charged the phone and we looked for a place to have breakfast, stopping at Viajero Hostel Medellin and after eating we went back to the hotel did the check in and we went to sleep for the rest of the day basically very tired. But after we decided to go out in the evening to we went to Calle 10 in El Poblado, grabbed something to eat at Crosantino and then went to have few drinks at Envy Rooftop which it was an amazing bar with and amazing view on the city of Medellin.
DAY 5 – Saturday 20.01.24

Woke up at 8 am got ready took an Uber to Mioboñuelo for breakfast and then took an Uber again to go to explore by ourselves the Comuna 13. We wonder around the neighborhood all morning till we stopped for lunch at Restaurante Bar Jardin 13. Later on we tried the local ice cream made with passion fruit and mango and than we took an other Uber to go to visit Museo El Castillo and then we went back to El Poblado to shower and chill and before going to sleep we went to eat something at Cafeteria Y Restaurante La 10.
DAY 6 – Sunday 21.01.24

Woke up at 6 am get ready to do a day tour that we booked with Get Your Guide the day before. First we went to the Piedra del Peñol walking up the step and seeing the stunning view as the picture up. Then we visited the city of Guatapé later on we took a boat tour in the rivers swing the ruin of one of the house of Pablo Escobar.
Went back to the hotel at 5:30 pm get the backpack and then took an Uber to the International Airport Cordova in Medellin to get on the flight to Lima 8:34 pm with JetSMART and we ll landed at 11:30 pm.
Colombia 2024 part 2
After going back to Argentina we didn’t know what to do, we were trying to get into chile but C. didn’t got her visa approved so we decided to go back to Colombia which is something we really wanted and see the beautiful Cartagena, Santa Marta and the islands.
DAY 1 – Sunday 25.02.24

Woke up at 8 am pack everything did the check out and we walked to the Teatro colon which unfortunately we couldn’t get inside so we just saw by the outside and the obelisk square. From there we went to Plaza de Mayo to had breakfast and enjoy the view at the bar Pertutti. Then at 11 am we got an Uber to the airport which it wasn’t the close one so it took like half an hour we had lunch at McDonald at ten airport and then at 02:40 pm we flew to Panama with Copa and from there we took an other flight to Cartagena where we landed at 10:42 pm got an Uber straight to the hotel.
DAY 2 – Monday 26.02.24

Woke up at 7 am get on a Uber had breakfast at Al Alma Cafe Restaurante and the at 9:30 am join the tour around the old town or Cartagena. Had lunch at Colombitalia Arepas and then walked around the city and took pictures all day / noon then got an Uber back down to playa Bocagrande went to 51 Sky Bar to watch the sunset but unfortunately was closed so we just chilled and watched the sunset at the beach and then had a quick lunch at McDonald.
DAY 3 – Tuesday 27.02.24

Woke at 7 am breakfast at Mecca then on the beach to take few pictures and then at 10:30 am took the Uber to the port where we embarked for Isla del Encanto which it was everything organized by the hotel. Got on the boat at 11 am around one hour ride and then we got there, we did the check in and once we went there we chilled by the pool 3 pm and then went to see the sunset and dinner by the beach, the dinner it was amazing a very romantic dinner.
DAY 4 – Wednesday 28.02.24

Wake up early have breakfast took few pics then had lunch at the resort, did the check out and left the island to go back to the port and from there we took an Uber to the main bus station in Cartagena and we took a bus to Santa Marta at 5 pm. We arrived in Santa Marta at 10:30 pm very late and actually the bus left us away from the city so we need to get a normal taxi to get to the hotel which I was a bit scared but it all went well and we got at the hotel alive, checked in and went to sleep directly.
DAY 5 – Thursday 29.02.24

Woke up early at 8am went to buy a phone charger because we lost it the evening before on the bus and then had breakfast in a little cute coffee shop where we got recruited for a cult basically and then we went around the city exploring the graffiti and the arts around. Had lunch at Restaurante Creole Mar y Cafe and the chilling on the beach Playa La Bahia. For the sunset we got ready and we went for a drink at Siete Mares Santa Marta and then we grab an hot dog on the way home for dinner and we went to sleep.
DAY 6 – Friday 01.02.24

Woke up at 8 am had breakfast near the hotel and then we took an Uber to the airport to catch the plane at 12:10 pm to Bogota with Avianca with a layover in Bogota for 1:20 min so we just had a quick lunch and then departing again with Avianca at 15:49 pm to San Andres and landing at 18:03 pm. Basically we spent all day traveling and once we got in San Andres just went to the hotel and then did a bit of groceries and we eat in the bedroom and went to sleep because we were pretty tired.
DAY 7 – Saturday 02.02.24

Woke up at 7:30 am went to check the view since last night was all dark and it was amazing.
After that we had breakfast and we went to the Playa Principal to take few pics and discover the island, after we had a quick lunch on the beach, chilling in the noon in the sea and then for dinner we went to La Regatta which actually we didn’t make a reservation so it was fully booked and we decided to go to La Pizzetta Florio which it was pretty good and then we chilled at the Hotel before going to sleep.
DAY 8 – Sunday 03.02.24

Woke up early had breakfast and then I had to say goodbye to Carmel because she left and went back to Australia. So I packed everything and then I did the check out at 11 am and I went in my new accommodation at the Dreamer Beach Club. In the noon I went to do the lashes and the nails and then went back to the hostel and went to sleep early.
DAY 9 – Monday 04.02.24

Woke up at 7 am did breakfast took few pics around went to the center to buy the camera charger then back in the hostel had lunch and chill in the hostel and planning for the next adventure where to go and what to do booking the flights and accommodation.
DAY 10 – Tuesday 05.02.24

Woke up early did breakfast and then at 10 am departing for the tour that I booked at the hostel to visit Jonny Cay as a half day day trip, so I went there stayed there chilled took pics and the at 4 pm I went back to San Andres and had dinner at Subway and the back to the hostel to sleep.
DAY 11 – Wednesday 06.02.24

Woke up at 7 am went straight to the airport luckily I could go just walking it took like 5 minutes and I catch the flight to Providencia at 9:30 am with Satena landed in Providencia after 20 minutes basically and I got a taxi to the property where I stayed, did the check in and went to the beach to take some pictures and chill had lunch at El Divino Nino Then I took a taxi motorbike to visit Santa Catalina that I could just walk there and visit the island had a little walk and then I get an other taxi motor back to the beach at El Divino Nino to enjoy the sunset and have a drink before going to sleep.
DAY 12 – Thursday 07.02.24

Woke up at 6:30 am did breakfast and then went to the beach to take the last pictures and swim a bit. After I did the check out at the Posada and the owner call me a moto taxi to go to the airport which I had my flight back to San Andres at 12:40 pm with Satena airlines. The flight is very shot so after 20 minutes I landed in San Andres and from there I walked to the hostel where I had lunch and then I just chilled in the pool all noon and then took shower and in the evening I planned everything for the following days.
DAY 13 – Friday 08.02.24

Woke up at 7 am packed everyday and left the hostel to go to the airport, took the flight at 9:39 am to Panama with Copa Airlines and then at 11:47 take the second flight again with Copa Airlines to Aruba.
