After Colombia me and Carmel we decided to go to Peru instead of Ecuador due to the political issues.
We landed in Lima the night before with Jetsmart at 11:30 pm and went straight to the 1900 Backpackers Hostel with an Uber after the controls.
DAY 1 – Monday 22.01.24

Woke up at 9 am, had breakfast and then went out to explore the city starting by Parque de La Explosion, Church of La Recoleta, Plaza San Martin, Lima main square which unfortunately was blocked due to the protest so we couldn’t access as well to the Lima Cathedral. Than we stopped at McDonald for lunch, after we tried to visit the Basilica of Santo Domingo that unfortunately was under construction then Basilica of San Francisco bus was closed till 4 pm, so we took an Uber to Miraflores were we walked around, went to the Miraflores city hall and Kennedy Park. From there we walked down to Larcomar where we did a bit of clothes shopping at H&M and watched the sunset at Costa Verde and then got an Uber back to the Hostel.
DAY 2 – Tuesday 23.01.24

Woke up at 6:45 am breakfast and than Uber to the bus stop and got on the bus at 9:30 am.
Travel along Peru’s breathtaking coast to the Ica town where we took a taxi to our accommodation in Huacachina. Got there by 3 pm did the check in and jumped in the pool of the Ecocamp had lunch there chilling a bit and than around 6 pm we walked up to the hill to see the sunset, later on we went to the Huacachina House to have dinner and try the Pisco Sour and then sleep.
DAY 3 – Wednesday 24.01.24

Woke up at 5:30 am to walked again up to the mountain to see the sunrise and then we went back to the Ecocamp to have breakfast by the poo, chilled a bit there and then by the Camp we booked a buggy tour at 11 am for an hour it was pretty funny and quite cheap definitely worth it. Later we walked around the Huacachina lake and stopped for lunch at Huacafuckingcina Restobar. Made our way to the bus stop around 4:30 pm after few drinks by the pool, bought the tickets at the bus stop and got in Nazca at 11 pm, walked from the bus stop to the accommodation pretty safe and eat even if it was already night time.
DAY 4 – Thursday 25.01.24

Woke up at 10 am pretty tired from the days before and chatted with the owner of the accommodation which he recommended us to go for breakfast at Mamashana and after take the public bus to Palpa and stopping at the Mirador Geoglifos de Palpa to see the Nasca line which he told us that it would be better than the official Nasca Lines mirador. It was quite an adventure with the buses in the desert but it worked pretty well and easy without even paying for the mirador. Once we got back in Nazca we had a quick lunch at Restaurante Farita stopped in a small market and then at 5 pm get on the Palomino over night bus to Cusco.
DAY 5 – Friday 26.01.24

The night on the bus wasn’t the best. Supposed to arrived in Cusco at 8 am but we stopped at 3 am for a mountain falling problem four hours till the clean the street so we could proceed and once we proceeded we got stopped again in the morning for a river floating so we had to go back and taken an other road which it was way longer and quite up in the mountains. We had few stop during the day for a food break and finally we arrived in Cusco at 1:30am totally exhausted after thirty two hours on the bus. Called an Uber to the accommodation and we went straight to sleep.
DAY 6 – Saturday 27.01.24

Woke up at 9 am did the breakfast at the hostel and then we went to sorted out the thing to go to Machu Picchu tomorrow planning to get on the train to Aguas Calientes today and leaving the stuff in the hostel here in Cusco. Well already for breakfast we hard that there are some protests in Machu Picchu and also at the reception the lady told us that but anyway we went to the bus stop to figure out what was happening and the train stopped running officially due to the protest, so we couldn’t go. So went back to the hostel trying to book an other night but was full so we changed place did the check in and went out trying to discover Cusco. Had lunch at the San Pedro Markets, eat some typical fruits and bought some food, chilled in the main square and then went back to the hostel to sleep early
DAY 7 – Sunday 28.01.24

Woke up at 3:30 am get ready to meet the day tour to the rainbow mountains.
Experience the incredible beauty of Rainbow Mountain on a guided hiking tour. You get a chance to see alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas while soaking in the stunning mountain views during the journey. Savor a local lunch before heading back to your accommodation in Cusco.
Your professional tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM. After a 2-hour drive, you will arrive in Cusipata where you will stop for breakfast and buy water and snacks for the trek.
Following breakfast, you’ll travel one more hour to the hike starting point, at 4,850 meters. From there you will start your 3.5-kilometer trek to Rainbow Mountain over both flat and uphill terrain.
During your hike, you will enjoy amazing views and encounters with wild alpacas, llamas, and vicuñas. Once you reach the top at 5,010 meters, you can make use of some free time to take a break, and if the weather is good, you will be able to enjoy views over Rainbow Mountain.
You’ll go downhill to the starting spot for another hour. Then, take transportation back to Cusipata where a local lunch will be waiting for you. Once you finish your buffet lunch you will travel back to Cusco, where you will arrive between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM at Plaza de Armas.
DAY 8 – Monday 29.01.24

Woke up at 4 am and get ready to meet the day tour to the seven lagoons.
The Tour of 7 Lagoons of Ausangate Cusco, is a new natural attraction located to the south east of the city of Cusco, where you can appreciate and tour the lagoons at the foot of the majestic Ausangate mountain. We will also be able to appreciate beautiful landscapes, mountains, flora and fauna typical of this place.
The names of the 7 lagoons of the Ausangate Cusco are: Upper Lake, Otorongo Male, Otorongo Female, Red Lake, Ccomer Lake, Blue Lake and Alqa Lake. Within the Tour of 7 lagoons of the Ausangate we have the option to visit the populated center of the Community of Pacchanta and its thermo-medicinal waters.
Itinerary:
We will begin with the pick up from the hotel in Cusco at 04:00 a.m., and then go to the town of Pacchanta where we will have a replenishing breakfast.
From this town of Pachanta we will start the walk, for 2 hours of the journey we will arrive at a viewpoint from where you can appreciate the 7 Ausangate Lagoons.
Later we will walk another 3 hours touring a large part of the 7 lagoons and culminating at the starting point in the town of Pacchanta (Place where we will have our lunch)
Finally we will return to the city of Cusco.
DAY 9 – Tuesday 30.01.24

Woke up at 8 am did the breakfast got ready for the check out and at 11 am we went to the bus station where we took the bus 12 pm after we had a lunch near by. We took the bus to Santa Teresa which we got roughly there at 6:30 pm stopped just before Santa Teresa due to the road blocked so walked for half an hour an other mini bus straight Hidroelectrica that we get there at 8 pm and we walked next to the railway till 11:30 pm where we arrived in Aguas Calientes. On this adventure we met fur Brazilian that we stayed together on the bus and we did the walk all together to Aguas Calientes. One e we got in the hotel we went straight to sleep very tired from the day and all wet from the rain in the evening.
DAY 10 – Wednesday 31.01.24

Woke up at 4:30am, started walking at 5 am got at the entrance at 7:30 am get inside visit macchi picchu stayed there, walked a bit around and then around 11 am left and make our way down to Aguas Calientes e from there again walking next to the railway station till Hidroelectrica and then at 4 pm took the bus to Cusco got there at 10:30 pm super tired and went to sleep.
DAY 11 – Thursday 01.02.24

Woke up early did breakfast then I went to the city trying to repair the camera, founded a place and lefted there, and Carmel went to the train station to buy the ticket to Puno. Later we did the check out and we organize an appointment to do the lashes before we had lunch at Chicarroneria restaurant el Rey. After the lashes we went to San Pedro Markets to wonder around buy few stuff/ eat and then went to get the camera and back to the hostel to organize everything and took the bus to Puno at 10 pm spending the night on the bus.
DAY 12 – Friday 02.02.24

Arrived in Puno at 5:30 am at the bus station, got a tuck tuck to the Hostel and luckily the girl she let us doing the check in the room so we went to sleep few hours. Woke up at 11 am went to the main square which it was very busy for the Festa de la Candelaria and we went to eat something in a small restaurant in the center and then we went back to the hostel to sleep since I wasn’t feeling very well, maybe for the altitude or maybe for the food not sure but we spent the rest of the day in the bedroom sleeping and chilling.
DAY 13 – Saturday 03.02.24

( Uros, Lake Titicaca )
Woke up at 6:30 am to do a day tour to Uros Island and Taquile Island.
Depart Puno and journey to the floating islands of the Uros people on Lake Titicaca. Find out about how these islands are created by the locals using bundles of dried totora reeds. Learn the history of the area and interact with the locals to hear more about their life out on the water.
Then, cruise over to Taquile Island in the largest part of Lake Titicaca. Experience life on the lake up close and get some stunning views of the Andes Mountains as a bonus.
Hear about the inhabitants of Taquile Island and how they descended from the Inca people to mostly work as farmers and weavers, and how they have inherited some distinct Inca traditions.
Go for a medium-level hike on the island, known for its handwoven art and collective farms, and enjoy a lunch of local produce served in a local restaurant. Then, return to Puno city on the shore of the lake for the end of the tour services.
Walked from the port to the hostel stopped by around since the city was busy and vibrant for the La Candelaria. Grabbed some food for the travel of the day after and then went to sleep early.
DAY 14 – Sunday 04.02.24

Woke up at 5:30 am did the breakfast and then took a take to the bus station since it wasn’t wet far but was raining and get on the bus Titicaca at 7 am to Copacabana and from there change bus to La Paz. But well first we had to cross the border doing the controls by walking, time zone changed get on the bus again and after like an hours stopping at Copacabana left the stuff in the office and had an hour free to wondering around and had lunch. Later at 1:15 pm got in the second bus to La Paz, well after an hour stopped to cross the water to we took a little boat then we kept going till La Paz that we got stuck in the traffic quite a bit and finally got at the bus terminal at 6 pm and from there we walked till the hostel, checked in, shower and sleep.
